i’ve read all up & down this forum about the p1656 code & everyone seems to have had success replacing the vvti solenoid & filter. i’ve done both, cleared the code & the problem still persists. i’m experiencing a rough, cammed like idle. i did the active test with a scanner the the car idled worse so i know the solenoid works. besides the wires & ecu being my other 2 possible culprits is there anything else that could be causing this code or contributing to it considering i’ve replaced the vvti solenoid. any help is much appreciated🙏🏽🙏🏽.

Yep. The ziptie is a red flag for sure. Sounds like you're on the right tack. Let us know how the connector and VVTi gear goes.
so here’s a quick update, replaced the connector with a new one & also replaced the gear & the p1655 ocv malfunction bank 1 code no longer pops up. the car misfires still, could the ocv malfunction have fouled my spark plugs since it has a lot to do with the afr & timing. i plugged plug #1 & it was wet & had a fuel a smell, i gave the car gas a few times so i’m assuming fuel was getting dumped in the cylinder but not properly ignited hence the wet plug.
