Unfortunately that's just the parking garage on campus

My apartment complex was one of the few with no speed bumps and a decent entrance. I guess the trade off was no covered parking, although very few offer it and it costs extra for just a little bit of a roof over it.

I've taken my car up to the parking garage before bad weather (hail/ice) a couple times, but this little "storm" wasn't forecast to do much of anything.

I should have just bought a beater and left my car in the garage back at my parents

Too late now, this will be the last winter my IS will be parked outside. And if things work out it'll be the last winter I have to drive it.

#1,518 ·
certainly do not miss parking the IS outside... I feel your pain. at least white looks good in the snow :approve:
Haha, true true. Hopefully we don't get anymore snow here!

I hope you re installed the triangle brace
I grabbed a couple quick/shitty pictures from underneath while the car was on the lift. Things weren't fully buttoned up when I took them but everything was in place excluding the lower triangle brace and under panels.I hate seeing underneath my car. I want to replace EVERYTHING that's covered in rust :pissed:
:p

Well, still nothing from Wheel Flip. I'm hoping my lips won't take as long this time... They were delivered Monday of this week so we'll see.

VR wheels said my barrels should be done early this week. Yesterday they said they were almost done, but I've heard nothing yet :pissed:

In other news, finally getting to do some cool stuff with school. Going to Daytona Beach, FL next week for a design review conference for one of my classes. Free trip to Florida? Talked me into it.

Later in August I should also be going to another review conference in Logan, UT.

Also grab some pictures of my two barrels after picking them up for powder coat. Nothing special, just wanted them to be cleaned up.

This past weekend I ran through all bolt holes on the faces and those two barrels to clean up the built up powder. Since I upgraded to larger bolts there was less tolerance on them so the bolts didn't want to fit. Now they fit perfect :)

So now it's just a waiting game on my lips from Wheel Flip and my barrels from VR wheels.

As I mentioned, I'm kinda thinking of switching up my tail lights. I really want LED's.

I've been talking to Nick at MMSport since he originally painted my tail lights. Trying to decide if I want to change the black or not...

Option 1) Put LED's in my tail lights as is.
Option 2) Chrome tail lights, inners painted red (like Modellista) with LED's.

Modellista made tail lights similar to mine, red painted inners with chrome rings. As far as I've seen, they're impossible to find so that's out of the question. Plus it wouldn't be worth the money when they'll be cut open anyway lol.

Just something I've been tossing around lately. Who knows what I'll end up doing.

#1,524 ·
I would totally support a red upper section. You could always have the inside painted dark (maybe not as dark as now), and do the upper section in red. IDK, it might look cool lol. I'd do it eventually if I ever open mine.
honestly I love your taillights, some of the nicest I've seen! I think you should just keep the design and have nick incorporate LEDs into them! The contrast really looks nice on your car! I'm actually about to have nick do some exactly like that for me, satin black with chrome rings! I even sent him a picture of your car as a reference!
Well after letting this sit for a while I think I'm leaning towards just adding LED's to my current lights. BUT it's been put on hold for now. I picked up another exhaust instead. Hoping it's here next week.

In other news, I got my 2 front wheels almost back together. Just need to locktite and torque the bolts. Going to put a layer of sealant along the weld just incase too. Then they will be ready for tires.

STILL waiting on my lips from Wheel Flip...

mmmmmhmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Wheel Porn.
damn those wheels look sick.

You had to get custom made lips?
:) :approve:

Yeah the front two (pictured) are just factory Blitz refinished. Nothing changed with them other than swapping faces to lower the offset.

The rears though were cut for new lips. Wheel Flip said they had lips to fit them but when I got them they didn't fit. I sent one of my faces to them to cut new lips that would fit so yeah the rear lips will be custom now.

Just waiting for them to send everything back :pissed:

#1,529 · (Edited)
No news on my lips from Wheel Flip still... Getting pretty annoyed now.

Anyway, I came across a Buddy Club Spec II exhaust and of course I just couldn't pass it up

The tip was a little crunched but I'll get it straightened out at some point. Fits pretty good, I'd like it to be a little longer but I can take care of that at some point too.

Of course nothing ever works right. My stock exhaust is very rusted from it's first few years in Michigan. Well BOTH bolt holes on the stock B pipe are tore up. I tried to save them but they're too far gone. So the exhaust is basically held on by the 4 hangers and 1 bolt. So I have a pretty good exhaust leak there.

Sucks because I feel like if I pull my stock B pipe off the same thing will happen at the Y pipe connection. I don't really feel like buying a full header back exhaust...

Whatever, here are some pictures. I was going to wash the car, it's 70F today, but tomorrow it's supposed to snow 1-3" so I didn't waste my time.

Its been a while since I came into this thread. Looks amazing!!!

I would do the LED tails. I always liked the ebay LED tails that some members have. Modellista is sick as well.

I always remember your headlights, when you first painted them. Everyone kept saying, just go with authentic JDM. Your still rocking it like it is :approve:

#1,534 ·
:approve:

Funny thing about my head lights is I have a JDM set in chrome sitting in my garage. I've been debating what to do and finally made up my mind :) Gonna step my light game up next year hopefully.

LED tail lights + trunk lights
LED fender markers
Dual projector retrofit painted black JDM head lights with LED turn signals
Possibly projector fog lights too

That's what I WANT to do. Things always come up so we'll see what I end up doing

I'd love the dancing LED tail light setups like Elvis from StanceNation has on his LS. But too expensive for me to justify. Around $2000.

whats going on with the lips now?
lol big surprise, haven't heard anything. I got an email last Monday that said they "should" be two weeks (BEFORE chrome) so we'll see. I replied but never heard anything back. Gonna resend the email later tonight since they seem to respond better towards the end of the day.

You are the 2nd person to have issues with wheel flip that i know of. Im sure theres more.
I never expected them to be this bad. All I had seen was people raving about how great they were. I guess I didn't dig deep enough before I decided to have them do my stuff. I'm just glad I had my faces, inner barrels, and the two barrels/lips done someplace else. Who knows how long they would be taking to do EVERYTHING.

The lips were the FIRST thing I ordered, yet the LAST thing I'm going to get back. They told me they had lips IN STOCK that would work. So much for that

I actually found 3 other IS300 owners through Instagram that all had issues with Wheel Flip. Plus a couple other guys. So it's either a hidden problem or a new problem.

All I know is they have about a week and a half to get something done. If not I'll be getting a refund.

I will never use Wheel Flip again that's for sure.

December 1st I called, I specifically asked if I needed to send a center in to confirm fitment, they said no.
January 17th-ish (6-7 weeks later) they send me two 4.5" lips in the wrong bolt pattern (for vs-xx) that don't fit.
February 10th the lips were delivered back to them along with one of my faces.
February 19th they "started" work on the new lips.
February 24th they tell me they should be done by the end of the week, at most middle of next week.
March 26th they tell me they sent 4" lips to chrome instead of 4.5". They can only get 4" or 5".
March 28th they say they can order 4.5" lips in blanks that I need but it will be minimum 2 weeks. Plus two weeks for chrome.
March 31st they say they should have the lips within two weeks.

So first it took a month and a half to chrome two lips that they had in stock. Then my stuff sat for two weeks and they did nothing with them. THEN they started work on the WRONG size lips. Apparently it took a month and a half for them to find out they were the wrong size. And they probably only found about because I called multiple times about them.

I can't always call, emailing is easier for me, so I've sent NUMEROUS emails with no response. They are better at answering the phones but that's not always an option for me. Not to mention they can call me. Leave a message. Let me know what's going on.

I've been patient and understanding. I ordered lips during black Friday. Of course they are going to be swamped. The amount of orders combined with multiple holidays was bound to slow things down. That's why I never really complained when I didn't get the lips until Mid-January.

But now they don't have an excuse so my patience is running out.

Kind of. Previous owner of my fenders did some work on the mounting spots lol. So they are actually zip-tied in the front. They tend to slip and are difficult to get tight anyway.

But the main issue was -8*F, snow, sleet, ice. I don't think any tape holds up well in those conditions lol. I've been waiting to redo them until I have time to wire my side markers. I have to pull the fenders off to do it so I'd rather not redo my side skirts just to have to do it again when I do the fenders. I'll have more motivation when my wheels are done.

Pics were with a 10-24 wide angle. They didn't come out great. I wasn't planning on taking pictures of my car so I didn't really care.

Anyone know what resistor(s) are need for the SRS air bag light when replacing the steering wheel? I haven't found much info. Going to see if I can figure out anything from the wiring diagrams but I figured I'd ask.

Still need front tires and horn button :( people need to buy my old exhaust and the Juran strut bar. Selling them cheap.
