Going to try to revive as much of this as I can. Pictures won't be exact, and I may not put ALL of the pictures back, but I'll do what I can over time.

Definately plenty of IS's out there that are nicer/better looking than mine. But thanks! Even though you love my nuts :p

I think it would look better with just the license plate on the bumper and maybe a thin BP frame? Or just the plate by itself?

The SSR plate is pretty bulky looking....

BTW Corey, I'm driving to San Diego on Wednesday to meet up with Emerson and pick up my sideskirts/rear and hopefully get a photo shoot in! Hopefully, Rey is going to crash the party as well. Should be interesting... You should drive down from good 'ol Missouri and meet us there! ;) hahaha
Yeah I just couldn't decide. It is bulky, but it's nice to represent. Even though people that see are like "What the hell is SSR?". I'll probably take it off soon, and if anything try to find a thin frame and paint it satin black.

And yeah I'd love to drive to San Diego. But MAN that is a LONG drive  Maybe one of these days. But you definately to get the rest of your kit on!

Thanks for all the comments guys! I'm really looking forward to finishing up everything with my car. So if anyone wants to get rid of a UGO ROOF SPOILER - let me know!! That is my biggest hold up as far as the exterior goes (as well as the only other exterior mod I will do).

Thanks man :approve:

So I clay bar'd and waxed my car the other day. Came out pretty good, however the pictures I attempted to take did not lol. Nothing new, but I got a few decent ones.

Look how decently flushed my passenger rear is!

I have a 5 speed LSD on the way. Should be here next week and I'll be trying to install it the following Monday if things go well.

Then things will kinda be put on hold for a couple months :( I work at a golf course so things will be slow in the winter (few hours = little $$$) so I'm going to TRY not to buy anything until after Christmas. Although I am going to try to get a few things as birthday and Christmas gifts  We'll see what happens though.

Oh and incase you were wondering, no my coilover is NOT blown. New ones have been put on hold until after Christmas.

#285 ·
Thanks. I've always wanted white/gold. And I love MS1's. So it all came together. All I need now is a turbo :p

I thought you were running 235's in back? HAHAHAHAHA...

I really like that stepped lip :approve:
DUDE. You had me freaking out for a second. I thought it was like my front wheels. I looked at it and thought it was fine, only to find out it wasn't what I wanted. Geez.

I envy your photoshop skills.

But thanks as always! I just wish the lip was bigger

so are your wheels not aligned and so is that why they're sunken in the front? you were planning on getting spacers right? you need like 10 or 15mm lol

but yah i've seen that sti all over nasioc and hellaflush its definitely sick nasty ....wait you're 19?!!!! me too...and you have legit wheels?!!!!...not me :(

edit: BTW i have a pair of 15mm spacers that i could get rid of i decided i want 25mm for the rear and use my 20mm for the front........for my stock wheels :pissed: ..pm me!

Well it is aligned, but with stock adjustment I can only take it so far. The shop just tried to get camber as low as it would go instead of making it even. So each wheel has a different amount of camber.

The fronts are sunk because I have over -2* of camber lol. But I have Cusco Upper A arms I'm going to eventually install to lower it down to -1.8* or so and then I'll see what size spacers I need. I had a 5mm spacer laying around and I threw it on one of my fronts the other day. It still need about 8mm's to be flush.

still looking good Corey! yah working during winter at a golf course is gonna be slow!! time to move to Cali where they golf all year long! haha
lol I wish I could come out to Cali! Winter here is too much. I'm actually considering buying a POS beater for winter and when my car is down getting work done. But we'll see how that works out.

Looks sick Corey! Spacers? ;)

Dude... I feel old. I'm 21 and it feels like the end of my youth. LOL
I want spacers trust me! It's just matter of time lol.

It's all downhill from there my friend.
lol I'll be 20 and my brother will be 23 in October, so I've seen his friends get older and how things are. I already feel like things are going downhill!

Exactly what I was thinking lol. Do I really want to pull my fenders like PhillyB, and STILL have to run a 235? I don't think so.

But hey, what do you think about adding a 15mm spacer in front? I think I have plenty of room right now. Plus...

Wheel specs are 18x8(F) 18x9(R) +38 all around. Only fender mods are rolled fenders front and rear. Tires are 225/40 in the front and 235/40 in the rear.

15mm spacer on the front making it a +23 offset.

....

10mm spacer on the rear thus making it a +28 offset.

Everything else that I have of the rear came out blurry but I am now driving with a 7mm spacer on the rear with next to no rubbing at all. Whatever rubbing that I hear is not from the tire hitting the fender. The front will work once I put on the Cusco adjustable arms that I have and go with a skinnier tire. The rear will work if I shave or roll the fender flat.
I think that is what I'm shooting for. I have 215/40's in front, and Cusco Upper A arms in my closet lol. So I think I should try to get some 15mm's for the front and 10mm for the back. The only thing I worry about is the rear being too soft and I'll rub like I was before.

Then one day I might bite the bullet and buy four sets of completely custom barrels and go 18x9 18x10 +37ish.

<3 this car
Thanks! I wish I could take better pictures though :(
Your car looks good too! It always looks so clean in your pics.

#302 ·
Yeah, I bought the 10mm for my 18x8+38's and I really want to do a 15m spacer instead. Sad day :(

My offsets are essentially the same as miss_IS300's though (with the exception of the front).

18x9.5+33 = 87.65
18x9+28 = 86.3

I think it's a good plan. You'll also be able to resell the spacers when you redo the barrels on your rear wheels. ;)

#303 ·
That is exactly what I was thinking. Except, I'll most likely be running spacers for a good while. I like the idea of going 9/10, but I don't think it will be a priority until after I do something with my motor.

I might try to get some spacers soon. It just depends. There is so much shit I want to buy right now :( And winter is coming up so I'll be taking the wheels off anyway.

#306 · (Edited)
I'll PM you back eventually. I have 5 new PM's right now

+ rep
looks great
Thanks!

EDIT: 5 Speed LSD pumpkin is sitting in my garage, along with Redline 75w90 synthetic gear fluid. Labor day screwed up my install plans. Should get to it soon though.

I also finally got around to painting my Cusco Upper A Arms. They were used and painted when I got them, I just wanted to freshen them up. Other than that, no real updates.

Thanks :)

I was SO close to ripping my whole kit off today. My rear lip is starting to fall off pretty much (exaggeration). The guy that painted/installed it didn't fit it very good, so it has NEVER fit right on the driver side corner. But it seems like it's starting to slip off. I just can't decide what to do :pissed:

Looking good.
Thanks man! I'm still waiting for your debut :p

Backup some more and give me some angles of those tails please. I did mine similar (custom) the same way I did the headlight DIY. I left the chrome rings, but I also left the inner circle chrome that concaves around the red of the tail light.

Those look VERY good.
Thanks. Did you recently do yours? I'd like to see what you are talking about (how you painted yours/what you left chrome).

I have more pictures on page 9 (if you have 30 posts per page). Post 264 is from the day I got them, and there's like one more picture in post 282.

If you want to see a certain angle that I don't have, let me know and I'll try to get one.

Oh, and mine were done by Nick (Inspar8r I think is his screen name here). I am extremely happy with them.

If I was you, I would remove the rear lip. Add new 3m double sided adhesive from Toyota. Then re-attach it on.

First, after attaching the adhesive, peel a corner of the strip that protects the adhesive tape, so that it peaks above the lip so its easy to grab. But dont pull it all the way off. Attach the lip to the bumper, with screws and stuff. (might want to have a 2nd person to help you with this). Then start pulling on the strip that you had started. But do it slowly so that it doesnt break. As you do it, press on the lip firmly to get the tape to stcik on the bumper.

Oh yeah, use rubbing alcohol on the bumper for a clean surface, so that the adhesive will stick better. ;)

Mehh... Thanks for the tip. I've read that before, but my body shop didn't do it. I would consider doing this now, but the tab that connects the lip to the bumper under that corner is too high, so it pulls the lip down. I thought maybe heating it up and bending it would help, but since it's fiberglass I don't really know if that would work

For now, I'm not too worried about it. It doesn't have to be perfect YET. I want to get a new kit once I get my engine work done, so if the lip comes off before then it's not a big deal lol.

Ya, heating up fiberglass isnt going to work.

I almost forgot...Happy Birthday Corey!

:) Thanks Rey! My birthday is officially over now though lol. At least it is where I am. Ohhh well.

And while I'm here, I might as well update. I installed my LSD pumpkin a couple weeks ago. Everything went surprisingly well, no major hold ups or anything. I definately think it was a worth-while addition!

So, anyone with an Auto LSD but wants a 5 Speed LSD, you should buy my 5 Speed NON-LSD rear and then swap the gears over on the the LSD so you will have the 5 Speeds gearing :approve: Once I get the NON-LSD rear cleaned up it will be for sale.

And since today is my birthday, I got a new 3gs iPhone and a Grom iPod adapter for it. So I can now listen to music from any gen. iPhone, or iPod. I'll have some pics of it later.

Also, it's time for my next opinion question. What should I do about my wheel fitment.

Currently: 18x8 +37 18x9 +37

a) Run a 15mm spacer in front and 10mm spacer in the rear.

Sell my wheels (get NEW MS1's)

b) In 18x8.5 +30 and 18x9.5 +30
c) In 18x9 +37 and 18x10 +37

All three options will give me the same fitment. b and c both give me 1/2" more lip all around. All three setups would use my current tires (215/40/18 and 235/40/18).

I just can't decide what to do... I don't like my wheel fitment right now. I want to be more flush and have some poke. I feel like spacers are "cheating" for wheel fitment, but I'm not opposed to running them. I would just rather have wheels that fit RIGHT.

I have also considered having the wheels widened, but I think that would be more expensive than buying new wheels. So would buying new barrels and lips since SSR's 3 piece wheels are really a 2 piece (the lip and barrel are welded together).

Any opinions?

I'm not made of money. College student here. I am in desperate need of new coilovers (more aggressive wheels will NOT work with my setup now). And I'm going on a trip to NYC over New Year's Eve. The trip is what's hanging me up... If I wasn't going I'd already have new coilovers on the way and plenty left over...

Thanks man. I might have a picture of my LSD pretty soon. Nothing fancy though. It was taken with my friends iPhone and it's just the LSD rear with axles installed out of the car lol. Nevermind, here's the pic. No where near good quality, but it's all I got

ahaha you two can start the shitty coilover crew :p
:pissed: lol

if you REALLY REALLY REALLY want to get into the modding game, get a job and save.
i've had coilovers ever since i was a sophomore in highschool, and i worked my ass off for them.
but in all honesty dont take short cuts. do everything in the beginning so you dont regret wasting money on dumb crap.
Truest shit in a long time. I bought my coilovers as a Junior in highschool too, saved up for them. Didn't do my research cus at the time I was all about lame fitment stock sized wheels. I took a short cut just trying to get them so I could adjust height. Now I'm kicking myself in the ass and buying a SECOND set. Just like this is my SECOND set of wheels. And I could possibly be buying a third :pissed:

spacers would be easiest, but i understand the whole "cheating" thing.

Selling wheels would be great, but you have to deal with shipping, people backing out, and most importantly, waiting for a new set of wheels.

So since b and c give you the same fitment, I would probably do the 9/10, just for kicks.

I understand the college student thing. I was the same way. Gotta budget just right. So that's why spacers would be the most cost efficient.
c) In 18x9 +37 and 18x10 +37

i would do option C. probaly the second cheapest easiest way. you can keep your rears and move them to the front and just buy 2 x10 wheels for the rears. the 18x8s will just have to sit in the garage. maybe make a fancy spare trunk enclosure with one.

or just sell everything and buy a new set. chaulk it up as a loss.
Let me just say:

*SHIPPING WHEELS IS A PAIN IN MY ASS*

Especially if you don't know the buyer from the forums (IE: I know Corey, and I know he'd be patient and cooperative with buying my wheels). Some people are extremely impatient and can't imagine waiting a week and a half.

/vent

Corey, go with option C. If you're going to sell the SSR's, then at least go another inch all around! Do a 9/10 and you'll be happier. My coilovers suck a ton as well, and I know for a fact I'm going to rub like crazy up front on turns and dips. But who cares
At least they got coils...i sadly dont.

But I am like white IS, I am a Uni (Canada) student, so I cant go and get the coils I want either...gotta run the Tein S-tech for now.

But on topic, I'd say, if you can, go for Option C. If you just dont have the time or funds to do it, you could go for option A and see how you like it. Run with that for a bit and if you decide to end up going with Option C, then you can sell the rims either w/ or w/o the spacers.
Option C. Have you tried driving around with your 18x9's up front? At least, that will give you an idea of what kind of work you will have to do.
Option C is the one I would prefer I think. It will be flush like I want, plus wide as hell lol. So if this happens, I will be going to 9 +37 and 10 +37.

But to cover a few things...

I potentially already have a buyer. I have talked with Eminence a little about this whole deal, but we haven't discussed the $$$ part or condition of wheels and things like that. I'm sure if things fell threw I could find another buyer. The good part about the timing is... It's winter.

Since winter is coming, my wheels will be off November 2nd until sometime in March most likely. So waiting 3 months isn't necessarily an issue either.

Oh, I also have the original boxes/packaging the wheels came in :approve:

I considered selling just the 8's, but I think that would be a challenge. It could be a possibility, but the problem is my 18x9 Super Low Disk doesn't clear the front calipers. I'm going to test fit it with a 5mm spacer and see if that fits so I COULD do that, but if it takes more than a 5mm I'd rather just buy four new wheels. It would also come down to what the buyer wanted to do...
