alright i got new rims tires and coilovers all in the past two weeks and have obviously had the windows tinted since i got the car. but i finally got everything put on wednesday and have been dying to post pictures but i didnt have a chance to take decent ones when i got the car back wednesday. i washed it but by the time i got home i ran out of daylight :( and i was busy all day today. so here are some pics i have so far.

Just heat up the paint until its to hot touch than begin rolling a few times redo the steps. It should take you about 30 mins each corner taking your time maybe less if your just pushing the lip flat.

Thanks man! But only the 9 didn't clear the front. Both wheels are Super Low Disk but the 8 cleared fine. I might check again since I was so excited maybe I went retarded. But the 8 Super Low definately cleared.


Does this look normal to you guys? I was working on shaving down the rear bumper tab and remolding the inner liner for the rear and noticed this...

It looks like some kind of sealant. When I heat the paint will it soften and not make the fender bumpy? Both sides look like that and some spots are worse than others.

Ok so I spend ALL freaking day working on my car. Originally we (my friend Ethan and I) were going to just roll the rears. Then we decided to go ahead and roll the fronts too. THEN we decided to put my new springs on my coilovers too. It wouldn't have been too bad but we kept running into stupid porblems.

The fender roller wouldn't clear my front calipers - we didn't have any spacers.

We took the front passenger caliper off. Rolled the fender after we tucked the liner behind the tabs. Then the two bolts on the caliper were fubar'd but we ended up getting them back on after a little work.

Rolled the rear fender, put the wheel on, jacked up the lower control arm to see where the wheel said. There was like 2 finger gap. So we decided to change my springs on my coilovers. Some how we ended up getting where the coilover mounts to the LCA stuck in the LCA trying to get it out. Had to pretty much take the LCA off. So my alignment is now WAY off. This happened on both sides of the rear :pissed:

Got the front passenger coilover off but the top nut was tightend WAY to much. Finally got that off after a little bit of work.

We finally got everything back together, checked the rear and had to raise it about .5", fronts were fine. Took it for a drive... the rear passenger wheel was rubbing like CRAZY. Driver side rubbed a little, but nothing like the passenger side.

Fronts didn't rub at all (ground to fender was at ~23.5") but I think I have a ton of negative camber right now. I have a 2 finger gap between the lip of the wheel and the edge of the fender. There's seriously enough room for like a 25mm spacer.

We ended up going back to the rears and messing with it some more. Got rid of MOST of the rubbing. Driver side didn't rub any on our second test drive. Passenger side rubbed significantly less, but still rubbed.

I think my rubbing problems are because of my alignment. my wheels look like this... /\ from camber (front and back) and like this.. /\ from toe. On my passenger side rear, I can fit my finger through the gap between tire/fender towards the rear door. I probably can't fit a screwdriver between the tire/fender towards where the rear bumper and rear quarter meet.

I should be getting an alignment Thursday :pissed: Hopefully I can get some of my camber/toe issues corrected. I love the wheels, I love my ride height, but I really hope that I can have some camber taken out so they don't seem so "sunk". And obviously the toe needs fixed....

Front ground to fender was around 23.5"
Rear ground to fender was around 24"
I need to check it again in the morning to make sure it's even.

Oh and rolling my fenders went extremely well. Used an Eastwood fender roller and the heat gun it comes with. I also bought a infared thermometer to check the temperature of the paint. We made sure it was over 135*F before we rolled. We didn't roll them completely flat, and the fender did pull a little. The only cracking we had was right on the crease where we rolled. The cracks are VERY small and there was no chipping. So I think it went really good for our first time rolling fenders!

And I'll try to get some pics of the fenders and rear bumper tab to show how I modded everything. I really don't think I'll have any rubbing at all once I get an alignment.

oh my goodness :O :O :O ..the result after a hard day's worth of work its an absolute gem! :approve: looks perfect man and i hope you get the alignment issues worked out the rears look fine but the fronts look sunk in significantly ..some of it due to lowering BUT nonetheless awesome work man! the fenders look like they came out perfect! (with the exception of a few cracks) and good job on getting the laser thermometer! :lol:

and if its worth anything i think a set of window visors and a roof spoiler would really set the car off :) ...especially with a turbo, literally ;)
Thanks man! The main alignment problems are the toe in the rear and the camber in front. I know I'll have some camber from going lower, but if you compare mine and twestman's cars you can tell a HUGE difference I think. Our wheels are 1mm different with the same size tire and same ride height.

I think the most important part was the thermometer actually! Why guess at the temp by putting you hand on it? I think that was very important.

:lol: Bad pictures, but I actually have some JDM Altezza window visors. If I could find a Ugo or Ugo replica roof spoiler for a decent price I would buy it in a heartbeat. But for now the plans are to get my tail lights, some Figs rear lower control arms, Cusco front upper A arms, then saving up for boost! Maybe a few little things here and there but that's the general idea.

The thermometer I got ended up being $29.xx from Harbor Frieght. And I really do think it is a great idea to get one. We seriously had VERY little cracking at all.

The main things we did were...

Put the fender liner behind the tabs in front. Bend the tabs back first. Then roll.

On the rear fenders, try to get as much of the sealant like stuff off of the inside before you roll. I have a picture of mine before some where in here of what I'm talking about.

Make sure you shave where the rear bumper tab is and mold the liner.

Then on the rears, it was easier to start at the bumper tab and roll our way towards the door.

Actually rolling the fender is pretty self explainitory. You'll get used to it on the first fender.

Bout damn time!! LOL They look fantastic! The front is a little sunken from camber, but once that's corrected, you'll find that it fits well ;)

How far did you roll the fenders in the rear? 1/2 way down the fender? Further? I rolled 3/4 of it to eliminate future issues with larger tires and/or lower offsets.
Haha, thanks man! I know I need to get my alignment done BAD.

I think we rolled about 4" from the clear protective tap by the door. You know what I mean? I can't remember, but I'll try to get a picture later.

My biggest problem was my alignment. I don't think I would have any problems if it was normal. We did have problems with the rear bumper tabs though. We ended up cutting a slit and hammer up the horizontal part and then rolling the actual fender part over that. I'll see if I can get some pictures later today.

Oh yes, it was a pretty decent wait. Started getting frustrated when I found out they would get here while I was on vacation, but it ended up working out pretty good. 14 weeks isn't anything compared to rvalero's 6 months though. I don't know how he did it :lol:

And I saw you got your Stance's! It looks awesome man! The fitment on your wheels look pretty good even with the higher offsets!

I can't wait to get everything fixed so I can actually drive my car. I have to take turns and bumps SO slow right now. But I don't know how much more work actually needs done right now. So it's on hold until atleast tomorrow...

oh my goodness :O :O :O ..the result after a hard day's worth of work its an absolute gem! :approve: looks perfect man and i hope you get the alignment issues worked out the rears look fine but the fronts look sunk in significantly ..some of it due to lowering BUT nonetheless awesome work man! the fenders look like they came out perfect! (with the exception of a few cracks) and good job on getting the laser thermometer! :lol:

and if its worth anything i think a set of window visors and a roof spoiler would really set the car off :) ...especially with a turbo, literally ;)

10mm spacer for the front, as for the rears you may have to buy a set of figs LCA's because the is300's come with stupid ones where once you adjust the camber, toe goes out of wack, once you adjust the toe the camber goes to shit.
however i noticed your rear tire is a bit too big, which is why your rubbing, roll the fenders completely flat and pull them out maybe 3mm
I'm gonna get an alignment done tomorrow and I'll go from there. I want to see if they can get everything back to somewhat normal (camber is fine, toe bad). If not, I'm f****d and either have to raise my car, roll/pull more, or put stock wheels back on until I can buy Figs LCA's. Either way, the LCA's are next on my list along with Upper A arms.

Ive been reading up on your threads. Dont know if anyone has posted this, since I didnt read the last few posts, before typing this. You will have rubbing isssues, if you go with spacers. You will need to stretch your tires more, so that it wont rub. Not sure what your running now, but I would suggest a 225/35or225/40 tire in the rear. To make it look equal to the front, just run 205/40 in the front. That should look good.

Your other option is to run air bags. Then you will be correct camber/toe, until you slamm it to the ground, when parked. But to each their own ;)

Thank you! But yes, the only place I'm rubbing is the rear passenger wheel. I'm pretty certain that it is only rubbing because of my toe. On the bumper tabs, I shaved down the part that goes toward the fender all the way to the size of the rolled lip. That still rubbed so we ended up putting a slit in the fender, bending the part that goes from along the bottom (fender tab) and then rolled the fender over it. We did the same on both sides and I have ZERO problems on the driver side.

whats the black stuff between your lips and bumpers?

oh and btw, what rims are those?
They are gaskets from Toyota. It protects the paint from the lips, and helps with the fitment.

The wheels are SSR Professor MS1

Your car looks great with the new wheels, and it will look even better with front spacers (or maybe even just camber correction). It looks much better than I have ever seen it :approve:

If your rear wheels are rubbing, it's probably the rear bumper bracket. You probably need to take off a little more. You don't even need a pull with your wheel specs. Rather than hammering the PolyU bumper tab, I heated it up, and rolled it upward/flat with a spark plug socket. That should make it easier to control/distribute pressure. Also, I thought I remember a thread stating that getting an alignment actually make matters worse in terms of rubbing since the tires got closer to the problem area. Don't forget to tape up your wheel wells, and see where your tires are rubbing.

As for the wait, it wasn't too bad. I didn't start getting really impatient until I knew they were finally loaded on the rowboat. Now you need your own inspirational of your wheels lol.
Yes, I'm really hoping we can get rid of some of my negative camber. Obviously I need some but I feel like there is way more than necessary.

I have to take my front bumper off for my alignment tomorrow, so I'll try to get some pics of inside the fender to show you how we did it.

I don't think it should be angled in THAT much.

I can't seem to get a good picture of things, but I really think I just need to get my toe fixed. I'll find out for sure tomorrow though. And I'll try to get some pics of the fender tonight.

Wow! Corey that turned out great! The ride height is 10x better than before too. Once you fix the camber to go more positive in the back, you might create more issues with rubbing... The front will be fine though. How much fender clearance do you have between your fenders and tires?




Maybe read? The black "stuff" is a grommet between the kit and the body. The rims are SSR MS1's 18x8 & 18x9 +37 offsets.

I definately have room in front, but I think I have room for less camber in the rear too. I can fit a finger all the way around on the driver side rear. But the passenger side rear I can only fit a finger from around the door to about the middle of the wheel. That's why I think it's my toe causing problems.

The fronts I can pretty much fit 2 fingers all the way around when they are straight. So I'm good there. I also have about a 1 finger gap at full lock.
