White_Is I've seen your car in person.

I think it was one of the Springfield 417r meets towards the beginning when everyone was in the parking lot at Nathanial Greene. Car was pretty darn clean. I remember walking by and saying "Damn whos car is this?!?" to one of my friends. We all kind of stared at it for awhile complimenting it and the owner on a job well done. Don't see to many IS 300's that have been modified in any fashion around 417

I just picked up a Solar Yellow IS 300 the other day and have some questions about your headlights.

Oh btw I was the passenger of the Blue STi with the ridiculously loud fuel pump;)

#118 ·
Yeah I was there ;) didn't really know ANYONE so it was kinda awkward lol but that's ok. Thanks for the compliments though! Are you on 417racing? I'm gonna be coming up there after I get my new rims to have s13dan roll my fenders. Were gonna have a "fender rolling party" lol. I'm hoping to have a few more things done by then so you could come by even if you don't need your fenders rolled :approve:

You didn't by chance buy Jordan's car did you? He had a SY that he was wanting/trying to sell.

And what's your question on the head lights? PM me if you'd like and I can most likely help you out. By the way, that Blue STI is sweet. I'll have to send you some pics of my friends 08 STI :)

I also finally got my front emblem done. I now have the L and the holder on my grill. Looks a LOT better. I'm gonna be moving my horns soon too. Hopefully tomorrow or Friday. I'll try to get a picture of the grill but it's raining.

#146 ·
Oh man! I hope I didn't miss this! I really actually want to roll my fenders with you guys if I could. Almost all the wheels I've found so far will require it so I may as well ahead of time to rush me into ordering the wheels haha.

Yea I did end up buying Jordan's car. Wish it weren't an E-Shift(auto?) but it makes for a pleasant daily car.

I do admire your car though. Its clean. I like your front emblem a LOT Kind of exactly what I'm looking for when I get my own grill!

^^^I agree
nah.
as someone who chromed/cleared out anything and everything possible on my IS when i was younger, i've started to appreciate the look of certain stock things much better.

in your case, the front sidemarkers look freaking sweet with the JDM heads. both have a little orange strip.

and the rear sidemarkers match perfectly with the rest of the tails.

cleared out fronts and rears will look rice.
Agreed. I bought 'em, installed 'em, and got rid of 'em. Actually, the CWest fron deleted them for me, and now i just have the red rears. looks way better IMO.
i dont think the orange in the front flows fell i think its over kill and takes away from the SD heads or are they JDM or is that the same thing lol...

I have 0 sidemarkers and think it looks best IMO...i like the red rears but on darker cars...I would like to see what clears look like on this...

but who knows I havent seen clear on it and it could look horrible compared to the stock..but id still like to see it
no chrome/clear side markers for me. i really like how they look. whether i have JDM "style" head lights or not. i like them. the only way i would get rid of them is if i had JDM bumpers. :approve: so they are staying as is :)

Corey u got your stock grill? willing to trade +cash for my 01 grill? lemme know bro thanks
no i sold it a while back. it was painted a satin black too. but i kept the emblem and holder. sorry !

Looks great! I love the white!!
looks great corey!! keep it up!
oh and i can't wait anymore!!
thanks guys! i really can't wait to get my new rims!

you like the stock 11 spoke wheels? they are the same as sports design but came on some of the later models. at least thats what i understand. my car isn't a sports design but came with them from the factory :approve:

and i'm not sure on the spring rates. you can check them out though. Tanabe Sustec Pro S-oc type II coilovers

Tanabe Racing Development, USA - Sustec Pro S-0C Type II

EDIT: its 10 kg/mm front and 8 kg/mm rear. but like i said they are coilovers and i have them all they way down.

#134 ·
we actually didn't get it too bad. it was more showers all day.

but thanks man! hows the car running?

i wouldnt do clear side markers either. the chrome wouldnt go with the rest of the car. maybe paint the front markers the same color of the car so they blend it. thats the way i did it.
I've thought about painting them white but i dont know. i still kind of like them. if i ever decided i wanted to do something different with them that is the route i would go. but for now they are staying how they are :)

thanks for all the comments guys!

#138 ·
it's a rubber gasket. same for the sides and rear. helps protect the paint and it helped with the fitment a little too.

Nice and clean...

^^^ I saw that molding w/ some other cars like toyota corolla S... the only thing is some of them matches the color of the car so it wouldn't be that visible....

Anyways its looking good man.!
Thanks but i've only seen the gasket in black or gray? i was going to do gray but couldn't find a part number so i just went with black. i like how you can see the distinction between the lip and the bumper but maybe it's just me :p

nice... i'd paint or get the clear side markers... that yellowy orange thing doesnt do it for me
nahh we discussed this. no clear/chrome markers. the orange goes with my head lights. i feel like if i take them off my car will be too black and white. IF i decide to do anything with them later i would paint them. but they are staying as is for now :approve:

#144 ·
Your Shiz looks hella clean the way it is - can't wait till you get your new wheels ;) - those will look syyyyyyyyyk on ur set up :approve:

Red, White, Silver, and Blue will always go great together (Red markers, Blue Calipers, Blue Lugs, White car, Amber to match amber w/ black - it all flows - the slight color difference in contrast between the Calipers and lugs I actually think compliments the set up well.... It's "matching to not match" - that's the newest style in LA and in the true JDM scene in Tokyo (like wearing a Navy blue hoodie with White shoes that have a cobalt blue trim... nice and clean) -

A hot azz fashion model up here (sorry no name droppin) talked to me about that the other day when we were out buying shoes, and I must agree - (she pays people to be right) - lol :).

Props on your ride and to you Cor....

#145 · (Edited)
thanks a bunch Nate! and i can't wait for the new rims! i'm also going to be buying new Rays extended lugs but they will still be blue :approve: so i'll still have the "matching but not matching" thing haha.

oh and i got my horns moved yesterday after putting it off for so long lol. looks WAY better.

EDIT: here's a quick pic with my horns moved!

100_0605 by Corey Wattelet, on Flickr

#149 ·
Nice. It looks a lot cleaner with the horns hidden :approve:

Thanks. Yes, the whole kit is made by VIS. But I would definately recommend having a shop mess with it. My sides fit great, and the gasket definately helps. But my rear on the driver side has never fit right. I think it would shape better if I were to heat the tab and bend it, but my body shop didn't do it and I don't know if I want to attempt that yet. My front also has some decent gaps. DEFINATELY get a gasket to help cover them up if the body shop can't take care of it. I recommend the gasket either way though. :approve:

wow nice IS! BTW didnt realize you were from joplin? Im *right* down the road in springfield. I dont see many nice is300's around, so good to know one is in the area.
Yeah I've been over there a couple times. I'm actually on 417racing.com too (springfield forum, whiteIS there) and I went to one of the meets a while back. I'll actually be coming over again once I get my new wheels to have a guy roll my fenders. It's gonna be a big "party" haha. You should come. Once it gets closer, I'm going to post a thread on 417r about it :approve:

Oh and do you have an IS? I've talked to a couple people from springfield who have IS's.

Hey Corey, did you get a new camera? Maybe it's just the lighting, but the pics look more vibrant. How much longer until your wheels show up?
No lol I didn't. Actually, my camera is nothing special (some Kodak easyshare). I was even in a hurry when I took those! But I'm learning how to use it now :) And most of the time my pictures are taken when it's cloudy, or if it is sunny I don't have my camera :pissed: But I got both that day lol. Thanks though, after I get my wheels I'm going to try to take some pictures other than my driveway

As for the wheels... Thursday (the 9th) I was told the ETA to arrive in the US is June. Which surprised me since when I ordered they said it would be 6-10 weeks. June 2 would be exactly 3 months. So I guess that is pretty normal. Ohhh well. As long as it doesn't take 6 months :p

EDIT: I took apart my rear seat and cleaned up the interior today. I haven't really posted any interior shots since it's all stock, but I thought it looked nice lol.

** cleaned up my pictures, I'll post new ones later. My interior is stock though lol **

I also bought Mookie's Tanabe sway bar. Hopefully I get them installed this week, but we'll see.

EDIT: 6/16/09

First, I did get the Tanabe's installed. Definately stiffened up the ride. I have very little if any body roll. But the car definately understeers. The Tanabe rear sway is hollow so even though it is thicker than OEM it still isn't in a good enough relation to the front bar to even it out or make the car oversteer. Getting a solid, same diameter as the Tanabe would be good, or a thicker hollow.

But as most of you know, I sold the Work XD9's and ordered new wheels. Well after 14 weeks they will finally be here tomorrow! So in the mean-time, here are my lugs that I got a while back from Nigel, and my tires that I just got today from Discout Tire Direct! I recommend BOTH of them for parts you may need!
