as much as 5zigen is a JDM brand

unfortunately, their wheels are made in china or taiwan .. definitely not japan ...

why u say that (5 Zigen) so does our Lexus stock rims they have the JWS stamp, there are knockoffs of all the good rims as SPREEWELL RACING AND DAZZ were busted awhile back for importing knockoffs of the high end Japanese rims from Thailand and what not and putting the genuine centercaps on...

i am not talking about knockoffs ... one of my friend runs a warehouse/distro for aftermarket parts in Japan and US ... he got to meet a lot of people and got to know many of of the in/outs of the industry ... you learn quite a bit about what really goes on behind some of the bigger brands ... basically 'who really makes what'

its kinda like how BBS advertises their 'aircraft quality strength wheels' ... yet BBS don't manufacture their own wheels ... everything is contracted out ... same goes for Advan ... yet majority of the people think BBS and Advan manufactures their own wheels ... most people think Bomex is made in Japan, yet their aero parts are all made in China

After watching this video, Im really glad that I got a really good deal on my Work Rezax, which is 3 piece forged, instead of some cheap knock off cast wheel.

Makes me feel good about my Rays. Nice find De.

Are you having any problems with your DPE's that you made this post?

To be honest, I had a lot of quality issues with my DPE when I first got them.

1 wheel had over 8 bends in it. Another had 2-3 bends.
I don't think any of the 4 of them were perfectly round.

They covered to fix one rim.

The others weren't fixable according to a wheel shop near me. They said that on the lip of the rim, if there are imperfections they can't correct stuff like that.

Oh well. I just took the hit.

This is why I don't recommend iforged and the like. I believe they all come from the same factory. They also hold water so they vibrate in the rain.

I think the 1 of the rears were round. The other rear was "okay.
Have you had a chance to contact DPE yet? I am curious to see how they will handle this situation now.

I think the only way to get those kinks out is to throw the wheels down on a lathe and round it out. Those little 90 degree bends/dips are probably what is causing the vibration. Do you still think it's a shipping damage? Cause the more I think of it, I don't think it is.
1) If the wheels are forged aluminum I don't think dropping the wheels will do such damage. I have dropped my volks many times.
2) If it is shipping damage, did they play basketball with it?

Great find De.... I was disappointed when you got rid of your Model 6's, but thought you were really crazy when you ditched the Volks

HRE, iForged, DPE, J Line, DTM, etc.... all use the same hoop manufacturers in the US. Thusly, the tolerances are not as tight...and the quality suffers. So far, I think Rays and Work make the best wheels....end of story.
