Tutorial: How to Remove Headlights

Originall posted by Monetaryfund and edited by Sophiesleeps for tutorial purposes.

Pics to come.

1. Take the two "pop-off" pins off with a screw driver in the fender well and peel it back to create as much space as possible to get your hand behind the light.

2. Those two screws are the main "locks" for the headlight.. Take them off with 10mm socket wrench. You may need an extension.

3. While you at it, take this screw off which is the only hidden screw for the bumper on each side.

4. Take off the bolt on top of the headlight.

5. Take the middle screw off... If you have undone the screws on the opposite sides, you have taken out all the screws on top of the bumper. The grille will come off together with the bumper later.

6. Now, lay on your back and undone all the 10mm screws that attach the bumper to the plastic underbody cover. There should be about 7-9 of them. The picture shows just one of these screws and the tow anchor under the car.

7. Now, squat down on the side of the bumper facing the side marker and pull the bumper towards you just a "little" so that you can have space to unplug the foglight and side marker. Push bumper toward the front of the car to unmount it.

8. There are two clips under the light housing that used to hold the bumpers, pop them up with a screw driver will help you on moving the light forward.

9. Finally you can pull out the lights.

if you are asking if you have to take off the bumper to change a turn signal bulb then no you dont have to take off the bumper.when the hood is open you have access to the back of the headlight/blinker asemblys where the bulbs go in.if you want to remove the whole headlight pod then you need to remove the bumper.

Yeah actually you do.

Unless you have miraculously tiny fingers and can fit them in there.
I've done it before...had a blonde girl shove her digits in there. Took forever.

It's actually easier to take off he bumper.

How tiny are your hands? Have looked into your engine bay lately? Even my girl can't get her tiny ass hand in there!

apparently if you want to change the front signal bulbs, there's 2 of them on each side. One of them you can see the wiring if you open your trunk, while the other one is under that one and is harder to get to.
So yah, you will need to take the whole headlight out if you wanted to change the front signals...

sorry guys.didnt mean to spread erronious information. i didnt even think about the lower set of blinker bulbs.you couldnt remove those no mater how small your fingers are.you would definately have to remove the head light to get those bulbs out.
