Thought this may be of some interest to anyone with a worn out Shift Ball/Knob on an automatic.
While, I did this last summer, I wanted to follow-up with a post in case others were interested.
So my "polished" shift knob that came on the Automatic IS300 was anything but "polished". I swear the person who owned my car before me wore a wedding ring with blades on the bottom. Regardless, there came a time when I finally decided to replace the shift knob. While I really liked the stock knob, I couldn't help myself when I saw the manual versions coming with a TRD Badging and Carbon Fiber Inlay on them.
Not to mention it was leather!
As all of us Auto owners know how hot that dang Auto knob can get on a summer day. I kid you not, SATAN HIMSELF WILL APPEAR JUST TO LICK THE INSIDE OF YOUR PALM.
So here it is:
Went onto Ebay, searched IS300 Shift Knob and come up with the following link:
Total asking price: $25.00USD +Shipping
Only problem is, the inner thread and ID on the Manuals do not fit the Autos. Most LOWES, HOME DEPOTS and hardware stores even specialty stores, really don't carry threaded inserts; let alone in the size and thread we need.
Shop Amazon and search for IS300 Shift Knob. There is a company by the name of Modify Street that offers a NEO Chrome Ball with inserts.
Total Asking Price: $18.99 on PRIME
Receive both items, use inserts from Modify Street shifter ball into New OEM Manual Leather Lexus shifter and it fits an Automatic!
