01 is300 cats apeared to be stopped up so i replaced it with a header car runs just as bad car stumbles bad when u give it gas and almost dies like its being choked the check engine light has been on and i believe all 4 o2's are bad ordered 2 new upstream today and o2 simulators for the down stream car wont pull its self over 25 mph someone please help
it just doesnt want to go. give it gas and it boggs u can baby it and get around but if u need to pull out in traffic u better wait for a big spot. no there is no exhaust leak and no i havent cleaned the maf but how do i get it out of safe mode
Ok. there are two problems that happened to me but ill tell u what happened prior to my car going into limp mode. I was driving down a highway aand all of a sudden my rpms shot down and my car got slower and slower. cudnt pass 45 mph and took forever to get up there. i tried giving it some throttle but it wudnt even redline, it wud eventualy jst stop at around 5000. Code through something about catalytic converter below threshold bank 1 and bank 2. (sometimes it might say bank 1 sensor 1 which means its ur sensor but in my case it didnt.) so i ordered new headers that came with cats. it was like $550. changed that out (didnt have 90k service so if u dont its a great time to do it if u can by urself) then it was still in limp mode. Freind that had like a $$$ computer came over and told us the sensors on the throttle body were gone so i picked up another throttle body. the start up was ALOT better and i thought it wud run fine. BUT the car still didnt go past 45. oh and on top of that i have an automatic. my car wudnt shift unless i picked up my foot off the gas. wierd as f$%^. This morning we seperated the headers from the y-pipe.. THAT DID IT! test drove it and it was LOUD AS HELLL but it ran perfect. got it up to 90 and was still going strong. it reved up to redline so it was fine. so either we're going to try and clean or or we might buy a new y-pipe. oh and when we did detach the y-pipe.. no codes were thrown which were wierd. Hope that helped
Try the following in order.
1. Detach the y-pipe from headers.
2.Check Throttle body sensors or even throttle body (if you're always pushing it hard it might be this)
3. Check cat on headers.
is it sluggish even @ in park if you just revved it.... that throttle body is known after miles for this....it has an actuator in there that opens the butterfly if that goes bad can cause that... u said the check engine lite was on... ...po420 catalytic effieciency below threshold. do you think your y pipe is clogged.thats crazy if it is never seen that.... that code is pretty much only set for three reasons
1. Clogged cats
2. Major exhaust leak right by Rear 02 (reading false air)
3. 02 sensor stuck lean(but will usually cause 02 code also)

foster21 - I had the exact same issue. The only cat I had was on my y-pipe and it was bad. I replaced it and good as new. Take off your y-pipe just to see if it fixes the problem; although it'll be loud as hell, and get yourself a new cat if it does solve it.

Not that loud, we were running the piss out of OKCIS' car open header, not even the stock manifold...HEADER.
