so the best way is an aftermarket downpipe/header combination? Is there pretty bad exhaust smell out the back or is it reasonable? If i do get just the header how bad is the leak? Is it noticeable smell wise and sound from the inside of the car? I got to find something like today so any recommendations would be great! I hate to say it but right now cheaper is better cuz im out of work so i might have to go the ebay route. I would like to get the downpipe/header matched combination but im leery about the exhaust smell out the back. Anybody have their 2 cents they wanna chime in with cuz im all ears?

I'd recommend the combo... but to each its own. The leak u can smell and hear at about 3500rpm's. It still has a smell with the combo, but not as bad as with the leak.

A friend of mine down the street did this to his IS. He has the Megan header and Y-Pipe and hasn't had any issues.

the picture up at the top from that user says he needed 2 on the downpipe? and there is talk that with the anti fouler on the O2 nearest the firewall it might hit, so you must need at least 1 there. And, isnt there more O2 sensors on the car? 3 on the header and 1 on the downpipe. So there are locations that dont need anti foulers when there are some that do? Im confused. Wow if anybody has pictures that would be amazing because it seems like im missing something?

i think i got it right. you need anti foulers POST cat on B1S2 and on the y pipe. Is it safe to just put 2 anti foulers at each location or is this not a good idea? i saw the earlier thread here with 2 on the y pipe so i will put 2 there, but is it just trial and error with the 1 on the header?

Ur right, it does say that above, sorry. I guess it is trial and error, because I only used one on the two 02sensors that I mentioned above. Here are a few pics, hopefully it clears things up.

Here is a view from looking through the top of the engine bay

Y-Pipe

Hope it helped you out a little bit.

yea it does help for sure. to have confidence in the decision i made to buy the header/downpipe is a big help. and to know how many anti foulers to buy and bore out is good information too. im trying to get all this organized so i can do the work in one night because im borrowing a garage and i cant drag it out or anything like that. thanks for the help! oh another question, if i do need 2 anti foulers at each of those locations do each of the stacked 2 need to be bored bigger, or just the one that that the O2 actually threads into and leave the one closest to the pipe the smaller diameter?

has any one considered buying bad used 02 sensors from like a dealer and clipping the sensor off and wire the pigtail up to the Simulator?

I didn't have to bore my defouler out. I bought it that size. But I would assume that you only have to bore the one out if you are going to use two defoulers for one 02sensor..... Keep in mind I only have one defouler on the y-pipe, and one on the lower 02sensor on the passenger side.

i would have to say yes even though i dont know absolutely right this second. because the O2 on the factory y pipe is PRE cat and it would throw codes because of the cats removed from the stock exhaust manifold.

To be honest, I have no idea. I didn't drive around long enough for a CEL to come on. I went back home and put the y-pipe on.
