are you not reading. Flange bolt pattern different.

rob 2fast4u That guy may have just slapped one in. You should always know the shap of your parts. If not sure rebuild. Especially for higher power setups and abuse.

I totally agree with you, he might of but like I said he's been through two of them maybe they were defective units that people knew and tried to sell to get money off them...? or the driveshaft alignment was off I don't know. But heres a link to his build thread definitely a read, and the diff destruction is near the last page.

Link does not work. But there is even more that can break a diff other than power. Wheel hop for one.

shoot I wonder its not working, if anyone is looking for it just search 2jz frs... I think its named "another 2jz frs" I agree there is lots of factors into what causes drivetrain components to break, I was ready that gaping/shimming the pinion gear helps out.

I just joined this forum but I wanted to report that I've just successfully swapped in a very low mileage FRS LSD diff into my automatic 2004 IS300 that came with an open diff. I used the FRS bolts to mount the diff in the front and I used the IS300 bolts to mount the diff to the rear crossmember. At the same time I upgraded to FIGS rear diff mounts. I haven't noticed any odd noises or other issues. It essentially bolted right up. I have noticed that with the gear ratio change to 4.10 the pickup from a stop is a bit improved. For the install I only removed the rear sway bar. I didn't remove the exhaust at all and I simply unbolted the axles from the diff cups and the driftshaft bolts from the front of the diff and dropped the diff right out. I swapped the diff cups onto the FRS diff and my buddy and i put the new diff in without much trouble. I will say that it took us about 8 hours over 2 days to do this in my garage without any air tools or lift. I had the rear of the car lifted on drive up ramps and that was it.

Perhaps a silly question:

2017 Toyota GT86. Same Diff?

I have a buddy that works at a toyota dealership who I have looking for a brand new LSD at a discounted rate.

Will be retrofitting an 04 AT with open diff.

(No Junked frs/brzs up here yet)

I am also going to try and get my hands on some discounted authentic toyota coolant while I am at it.
Sh*t is expensive!
