Welp, I tried cleaning my trd filter with the official trd speed cleaning kit, and lemme tell you, that thing sucks. Most of the grime is still on the filter and I sprayed and resprayed the cleaning solution multiple times. I'm gonna try the edgy method today. Just bought 2 bottles of club soda and see if it makes a difference this time!
well, i tried oxy wash in hopes of avoiding the caking powder thingy. 2 liters club soda and a cap full, its till soaking. I noticed immediated release of oil and grime. I think ill try another cleaning cycle, like the Don did. But so far so good, ive never seen this kind of soot concentration being released in the first cleaning.
thanx guys.

Works well with re-usable filters, like ones that you can recharge or that are washable. Mesh and Metal and K&N Filters, TRD and a few others are in this category.
I have to clean/replace the AEM in my dad's Tacoma soon since hes been fishing/off-roading like crazy past few weeks. Well, I remember it was BRIGHT red when I installed it, it is a dirty red/brown now.
I dont have any OxyClean. Where could I get it and how much? Would Tide work?
Laundry detergent might get you into some trouble.
REALLY???.............................. have you any experience to back that up or are you just thinking out loud.....??
Now,....OXYclean is certainly NOT necessary...& simple green/ fantastic/ 409/ any good household or garage degreaser solution that mixes with water will be fine... i used Oxy clean cause it works wonders on some stains i needed to get out......& it was handy..... the CLUB SODA WATER is the catalyst for the "deep cleaning" that happens when you mix the degreaser solution with the soda water & the carbonation is what pulls all the jammed in dirt & oil & shit out of the individual fibers of cotton that are filthy from use....... the degreaser gets t owork dissolving that oil & grease &the carbonation gets in there & breakes up the dirt & shit withteh effervescing action... it is like Cold Boiling the things the rolling water of the carbonation releasing jsut pulls & knocks the dirt & crap right out of the cotton media....
PLUS... if you are using a oiled Cotton gauze filter... there is no problem using the " detergent" Oxy clean etc... i never suggested using TIDE... or ALL...but theoretically there is NO reason why thise would not work either.....
CLOTHING.............. is made of alot of cotton Detergent is made to clean gently & not mess up the cotton & other fabrics.... so using any kind of laundry detergent ... will NOT harm your cotton gause filter in ANY way what so ever.....
