Thanks for the rep. I don't come here as frequently as I used to,... I need to clean up all my DIY threads to make them more printable and easier to take into the garage w/o a computer or downloading a bunch of pictures.

Not much left to DIY. I am coming up on my 90k but I am paying someone to change the timing belt.

Any suggestions on what else I can post? Not much out there than normal wrenches would take on themselves I would guess.... no?

Ready for the newb of newb questions. I've been wanting to do this for a while but I havent had a good write up the PDF helps.

but here is my question.......

Is there any difference between an oil change for a auto vs a manual or a 2001 vs any other year?

Nice write up. I'm gonna try to change the oil without raising the car as Italynstylion suggested.

BTW, one thing that should be mention is that before you unscrew the drain plug, remove the motor oil cap. This allows the oil to flow out of your car much better.

Also, if you want the benefit of draining hot oil and not burning your forearms from the filter, you could drain the oil while it is hot, and let the engine cool off and do the filter later, assuming you're not in a hurry.

Also, this is very important. PLEASE DISPOSE OF YOUR OLD OIL/OIL FILTER PROPERLY!

Motor oil can be recycled 100%. If not disposed of properly, motor oil can be a great source of pollutant. One gallon of used oil can contaminate up to one million gallons of drinking water. So please, whatever you do, unless you want to be drinking your motor oil through your tap, dispose of them properly.

See this link for US motor oil disposal info.

Used Motor Oil and Oil Filters » Earth 911

If you're in Canada, usually if you put your old oil by the front of the garage @ your Canadian tires, they'll dispose of it free of charge.

Don't worry about the extra oil...you'll be okay.

And BTW, you can change the oil without jacking up the car. Get a low profile plastic oil pan and slide it under the car beneath the oil pan bolt. Works everytime.

Also remove the Oil dipstick as well, to help oil drain out.
