I'm getting a new car soon and I've been test driving a few cars lately ( IS250, IS350, BMW325, Jetta 2.0T). I'm taking the VW and Bimmer outta my list cuz i really can't stand the interior.
I really like the way FSI 2.0T and the DSG works on the Jetta (really fast gear shift, and the rpm didn't drop more than 1k when up and down shifts. I drove the IS 350 right after and I can tell the shifting is not as fast as the DSG), but I'm a bit more into manual so I'm looking into the Audi A4 2.0T since they use the same engine and A4's interior is much nicer than Jetta.
I've tried the both IS, the 250 and 350, 350 is blazing fast but with automatic and that much horsepower, I just don't feel the fun factor of driving. and with the 250 I feel it's a bit lack of power and it doesn't have that "kick" feel like the 2.0T has; but the 250 I drove is the automatic one so I'm wondering how's the manual one like? and I also would like to know how it comapare with A4 on handling.
oh.. and the price on IS250 is similar than A4 2.0T Quattro. around 47k canadian. and the IS350 is about 55k cnd; G35 is about 50k.
I'm also considering G35 coup as well, so what do u guys says? which one is more fun to drive ? and worth the money...
That's great that you are considering a variety of cars. I kind of did the samething. I also test drove a GLI turbo with DSG and liked it alot (very sporty). If you like the Jetta wait for the new GTI with the 2.0T FSI. That thing is gonna be sweet. If you like the FSI: also try a4 2.0t, a3 2.0t. The Audi 2.0T was my frontrunner choice before I ran into my beauty at the Lexus dealership. It was love at first site. lol

so you're driving the IS250 manual now? how do you like it? and what makes u pick IS instead of the A4?
Get the IS250 man. I'm sure there will be a lot of after market parts to make them go fast. Plus Asian chicks love Lexus

Out of your list, I would've chosen the G35 coupe. I had a G35c 6MT before my IS350 and it was a fun car to drive. If you haven't given it a test drive, I would suggest you do so.

e.
in the end, it came down to the fact that I preferred the Is250's looks and features. And with a little pull from a friend at the local Lexus dealer I went home in one. Never a 2nd thought after that.
The new Road and Track ( I think it was that mag....it's at home right now) has a comparison of the 4 wheel drive sports sedans out right now. They really liked the A4 2.0T Quattro. It came in #2 and the IS250 AWD came in 4th. They really couldn't say enough about the A4 other than it's high price (which wouldn't be sooo high if they hadn't tested the S-Line version). they said the IS250 lacked power, which I believe is true.
If you're looking for reliability, go with the Lexus. If Fun Factor is more important, I say go with the Audi.
As far as the G35 goes, I would wait, since it will be redesigned soon.

are you saying Audi is not as reliable as the Lexus? well I should say does Audi has "small bugs"??
my family owns a Lexus RX and the quality and reliability are good. but I never own an Audi bebofe so what are the things I should beaware of before I get one? are there lotta small problems?
I heard a lotta people says that German cars are good at driving experience, handling, the engine etc.. but they have a lots of "small bugs" which are annoyoing sometimes.. is that true?

yeah I agree with you on the G35, I read some where on the g35 forum they're all saying there's gonna be a redesign soon.

I know what you mean, I can't resist the look of it too and my girlfriend loves the car..
by the way you have the manual right? do u mind showing me some pics of what it looks like inside?? cuz at the dealer they don't have a manual one either on display or for test drive. and how do you like it?
VW and Audi have had reliability problems, mostly electronic crap, in the past, not sure on the newer generation of their cars, but back then they kinda sucked. I would never want to own a euro car outside of warranty, not really even in warranty cuz trips to the dealer suck.
im a audi master tech belive me when i say stay away from the a4 unless you like going to dealer all the time they have lots of stupid problems stay with the lexus man you will be way better off. i work on these everyday i would be very pissed if i owned one
