Auto radiator on manual IS300?

My radiator cracked today, and I need to get a new one. I called Lexus, and they want $375 + tax for a new one. I did some searching on here, and saw that Denso makes a replacement, but they only seem to make one for automatics.

More Information for DENSO 2213120

A Mishimoto is cheaper than OEM, so I might go that route, but I'd rather get a Denso for less than half the price. Has anybody with a manual transmission IS300 used the Denso 2213120 radiator with success? I'm hoping that it just has an extra fitting for the auto transmission that can be left closed off or something like that.

My job is only 5 miles away, so maybe I'll just keep some Toyota coolant in my car, and top off every time I drive...until I get a replacement.

Should be fine. You wouldn't necessarily need to cap of the lines but if it were me, I would.

Thanks. How would I cap the lines? Would they have something at Autozone or another local parts store to do that? I ended up applying some QuickSteel to the hairline crack in the rad. Hopefully it's just in front where I can see it. Hopefully the temporary fix lasts a week or two until I get my new radiator.

You'll be fine. I had to replace mine due to an impact about 50K miles ago.
I used an aftermarket replacement for an automatic and left the tranny lines unconnected.
My car still runs at the same temps as before.
NA IS300s run ridiculously cool anyway.
Unless you plan to turbocharge in the future, you'll be a-ok.

This is good info. I'm at 143k and I'm afraid to get stranded due to radiator crack. I think as a precaution I may just pick one of these Denso up during 150k maintenance and do a coolant flush while I'm at it.

Rey - let us know how it works out!

Thanks for the input guys. I ended up getting a Koyo OEM replacement. I've heard good things about them, and I installed one in my old Civic. I was thinking about getting an aluminum radiator, but it would just be a waste of money for my purposes. Unless I moved out of CA, my car will never see FI. Install should be straight forward with no modification. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

+Rep for everyone...wait, what's that??

Sorry, I'm late but like mentioned, some brass plugs would be the easiest option.

Where are you picking up the Koyo? That sounds like a great option. May do the same when the time comes.

rep? Never heard of it....

Auto radiator on manual IS300?

Nope. I got an ATM koyo radiator from my local Toyota.

You can use an automatic radiator on either manual or auto car.
I never had good luck with aftermarket radiators, I had 2 that leaked at the seams where the plastic end tank meet the fins.
