Ok my.IS members! It is time once again to dispel your self serving nature and give tidings to those less fortunate. The 2005 Holiday season is among us
(already?!) and my.IS is once again taking part in the Automotive Enthusiasts Toy Drive Competition, hosted by Scion Life. This contest will pit our community against that of other popular automotive enthusiast communities on the internet to see who has the bigger sleigh bells in the form of donations for Toys for Tots.
Participating is simple. My.IS members will offer donations in $1.00 increments. Each $1.00 (or each car, as explained further down) counts as one "point" toward our standing in the contest. We will report our "points" total each day to Scion Life, where they will track the leaders and report back to us with the contest standings. At the close of the contest on December 16, 2005, which ever site has the most donation points will be the winner.
Why $1.00 point increments you ask? Well, that is the nifty part of this themed automotive Toy Drive. You see, $1.00 is about the cost of one individually wrapped Hot Wheels or Matchbox toy car. The toy cars themselves are really the "points" of this contest, as the site who has the most cars(points) at the end of the contest is the winner! So imagine, for every single point our site earns, that is one less fortunate child that will have one extra toy this holiday season to unwrap!
So, we are officially underway and accepting donations! There are two ways you can donate...
Method 1: Paypal a donation in the box below in $1.00 increments (1.00, 5.00, 10.00, 50.00, whatever you like.. just no change amounts please). Be sure to include your username in the comment notes, as you will receive a "Toy Drive" badge for your contribution! This will let everyone on the site know you aren't the scrooge they had you pinned for.

As donations begin to roll in and our point standing climbs, we will use the funds to purchase the toy cars either online or in local stores. Basically wherever we can get the most bang for our buck! On the final weekend after we close off donations, we will take remaining funds and hit local toy stores buying up whatever toy cars we can.
Method 2: Send individually packaged, unwrapped single Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars to the address below. We must receive them no later than Dec. 17th or they will not count toward the final score. Again, they must be individually packaged. Multi packs, sets or other non-individually packaged cars only count for HALF the points (see official rules at page bottom).
Ship to: MML: my.IS

Plantation, FL 33324
We will be delivering the toy cars to the Toys for Tots drop-off center at an Army Reserve base here in South Florida on Monday December 19th. Any local my.IS members are more than welcome to accompany us for a photo-op and certificate presentation for the site. Check the Regional South discussion forum for more info on this opportunity.
So that's it folks. Let's get this drive underway and show the automotive community, and more importantly the less fortunate children, that my.IS members have a big heart... and deep pockets!

2005 Official Toy-Drive RULES (as stated by Scion Life, contest host)
1. Each website will administer their own toy drive and report their running grand total daily (or as often as possible) to admin@scionlife.com.
2. "Points" are determined by the amount of toy cars that will be donated at the end of the contest. We are using increments of $1.00 or one individually-packaged Matchbox/Hotwheel car to equal one point. If you have five cars and three dollars at the end of day one then you would report eight points. Don't forget to buy toys with the money before the end of the contest!
3. Although all toys are welcome for donation, for the purpose of equality only Matchbox or Hotwheel brand toy cars in individual packages will earn onepoint. Multipacks of Hotwheels or Matchbox cars will be worth HALF the number of cars in the package. Off-brand toys will not be counted in this contest. (In the past we had people buy 50-packs of very cheaply made toys to get ahead)
4. The contest begins on Monday, November 28th, 2005 and ends on Friday, December 16th, 2005. The last tally by 11:59PM PST is your FINAL score.
5. A photo of all toys contributed at the contribution facility or loaded to be delivered needs to be emailed to admin@scionlife.com by each website by Monday, December 19th! If a photo is not sent in by that time the website is disqualified from the contest. (You can't wait to donate until the evening of the 24th or the kids won't get their gifts!)
