I painted my original one. Matched the powder coat pretty well.

Got a call from the machine shop today. They said I'm going to need 86.5 mm pistons after they cleaned up my block. My question is, what thickness head gasket do I need if Im going boosted and getting 8.5.1 cr pistons? Any help? thanks

Got some stuff ordered today! JE pistons with BC H-beam rods. Also got an offer put in for some ACL main, thrust, and rod bearings. Looking to get a full gasket kit here real soon as well. Just gotta call the dealership and see what they offer. Also received some braided split wire loom this last weekend for my wire harness. I think i ordered to thick so I have a few more sizes coming in the mail to compare with before I start chopping away. Ill post pics as parts come in....

Your stepdad's hotrods are badass. Just convinced my pops to buy a 3 window coupe with ls plans. Wasn't to keen on the green, but it is growing on me. Always loved me a nice 2j build. Keep it up man!

Thanks, I went green cause of its rarity and I knew it would look good blacked out (IMO) At night the whole car looks black almost, real dark rich green. My step dad knows his shit and is a good guy to have in my corner for support on this build. Thanks for checking things out. Stay tuned bro.

Got my ARP main and head studs today. whoo! I know, nothing to cool. These will help my motor last forever haha.

Ive started on re looming my wire harness. Its a little tedious but should be done tomorrow as long as I don't run out of loom. Pics of that when I'm finished...

Whats up everyone! Haven't done a update for a while. Been busy with life and things have been moving slower than I want. However I am picking back up here and have some new stuff to share. My motor is still at the machine shop because they have been waiting for me to get them timing components so they can check their work. I also got a new oil pump and painted it. I waited a week for the paint to cure as well as a new water pump. I also was trying to find a place to match the anodized color of my cam gear. No where could come close so I decided to have them powder coated the same yellow as my valve covers. IMO its gonna look sick but I know some people might wonder. (thats ok, this is for me) Also got half way thru re looming my wiring harness and ran out of loom so that got put aside for the moment. Here are pics of everything I just discussed above. Enjoy!

Oil pump, thermostat, timing belt, water pump. ONLY OEM

Parts masked off for paint

First time trying this. Success!

TRD yellow, WHAT YOU WANT

sneak peek at wiring harness

keep checking back for progress!!

Nice progress. It's always better to take your timr and make sure everything is right the first time instead of rushing just to get it back together. Wire harness looks fresh. Keep up the good work.
