Mike's '02 AR L-tuned

Hello my ISers!
My name is Mike and I've been lurking in these forums for a while and never introduced myself. My IS is still stock but I've been playing with it for a couple of years now and here's what I got. I collected many pics over the years from start till now and here are most of them.
Thanks to this forum and the members, bc of them I've been able to do all of this myself. I've sure learned a lot through reading a decade worth of info.

First pic before I drove off in it

Stock engine 110K

Interior

Spacer mod

How I used to listen to music lol

Debadged

Satin black emblems

Satin black grill and mesh (Top and bottom)

G2 Caliper paint

MotoGFX decals

Put em back on

Had an idea of going with 18 F-Sport wheels so I got me some F-sport badges

Headlight was busted

Painted headlights and fogs

1 low beam halo broke while I was installing it so I dropped it

Painted chrome interior parts

Bought my system and Pioneer 8400 head unit

Bought the Beatsonic adapter to retain oem nav (didn’t function correctly) and installed everything.

Moved the trac button to the center position (Looked better to me)

Installed my back up camera. I cut the molding for a tight fit and made my own mounting bracket.

My nav was changing illumination constantly so I took off the beatsonic adapter. I figured out the wiring and wired the head unit directly to the factory harness.

Here’s the DIY I made: DIY: Retain OEM NAV+Aftermarket HU (pics) - my.IS - Lexus IS Forum

Installed an AUX input under the armrest and a USB connection above the rear ashtray

Put a red LED in the cup holder

I removed the lever that holds the cups in place and made a little hole right down the middle for the LED. Then I put a plastic layer over it to give it that factory look.

Plasti dipped my cowl

Plasti dipped the wheels

…and rear view mirror lol

Strapped this baby in

Put some red LED city lights

Took em off bc I was getting too much attention from cops. I went with Sylvania 6000K

Sylvania 6000K license plate LEDs

Tuned parts door sills

Painted the rears black

Re sprayed my engine covers

Removed the plasti dip and painted my stock wheels

Tint F: 20%, R:5%

Got me a compass rear view mirror and plasti dipped it

Oil was leaking from the pump seal and the pan. Replaced valve cover gaskets, plugs, wires, rear main seal, pump seal, tranny filter, and resealed the pan.

In case anyone was wondering, this is the pump seal.

Cleaned out my TB

Changed my differential fluid with BG ultra guard from Toyota

Nokya hyper yellow DRLs

Bought a cargo net from heineken

Had a lot of molding left from my back up camera install so I tried it out..didn't like it so it came right off lol

Figs gave me an idea of how the diffuser would look

Might’ve missed some stuff but this is how she sits today

woohoo you started the thread!!! I didn't realize that you had done so much, especially in the details. +rep

I didn't realize that you had painted so many parts black, the paint really has lasted well and keeps clean nicer than I would have expected.

And I love how you moved the t/c button to the middle, I've never seen or thought of that, but it does make more sense. I can't do that now, because I'm too used to hitting the t/c button where it is now.

Door sills look good, makes me want some!!

Everything looks good together, can't wait to see more pics

Thanks! Get it done, looks way better lol
For now not really anything big. I'm trying to get this maintenance crap out of the way. All I have left to do is timing belt and water pump, I have everything I've just been lagging The first thing I want is an Ltuned front bumper lol I also want to see how the L-sportline wing or the TTE wing would look on my AR. I'm not a fan of huge wings, so these look good to me.

I've also been thinking about changing the cluster illumination. I'm thinking either red cluster and the rest white (climate controls, trac, etc) or just going all white but I haven't decided yet.

I'll be taking my dash out soon to repaint it before I go back to school. I'm gonna try SEM paint

Yeah!!! lol I had a couple of free hours at work so I figured why not. The paint has lasted really well and still looks good. The only thing I might have to redo is my grill bc of rock chips. For sure, now I have a place to post anything I do from now on

Very nice Mike, I've seen the pictures you posted in other thread but never your build thread, glad you started one. I love the AUX in the arm rest.

Thanks David! I've seen yours too, that Ltuned front bumper just gives it that aggressiveness up front I just wish authentic ones weren't so damn expensive. I got the idea for the AUX from my friend's IS350, and found all I needed at best buy lol I also did it bc my head unit has the AUX input in the rear
