LexusSpeed01 1JZGTE VVTI Tomei Build **Updated** **Dyno Results** 6-25-15

Hey Guys,

Well I think it is time to create a build thread a lot has been done and lots of pictures taken. Please enjoy the pictures and if you have any comments or questions let me know will be adding stuff over the next couple weeks as the project finishes up.

Power Goals:
450rwhp - 550rwhp

Current Mods:
1JZGTE VVTi Swap
BC Coilovers
Leather Door Panels
Leather Rear Seats
Battery Relocation to Trunk
Fuel Return and Walboro 255lph
ABS Relocated - Finishing Lines Kit
CX Racing FMIC
Drive Shaft Shop Drive Shaft
Blue Powder Coated Rims
Tomei M8280 Turbo Upgrade
Tomei PonyCams
Tomei Expreme Turbo Outlet
3" downpipe with 3" exhaust to Apexi WS2
750cc Deatschwerks Injectors
Tweak'd Performance Engine Harness
AEM UEGO WideBand
Finishing Lines Complete Brake Line Kit
Extra Ground Straps
Aluminum Pully Upgrade kit Driftmotion

Here is when I first picked the car up with 130k on it from from dealership.

Drove the car for about 6-8 months and really wanted to boost it. Missed the Subaru and had the boost fever again. Decided to pick up a manifold and turbo from guy on here to piece kit together that turned out horribly wrong. The guy said it was a from a IS300 and that he was gonna bolt it on. Well come to find out it actually came from SC300 that had little more room so no dice on mine.

So in order to try to make it work I decided to move the battery and relocate the ABS. This was a bad idea to start with non of the lines would flare correctly and finally gave up. Ordered this kit from finishing lines and made it look awesome.

After this was done I decided to put the headers back on and drive it around like that until i decide what i want to do instead.

Next came the rims. I was wanting to get a set of wheels in anodized blue. Well a company we do work for i was talking about it and he offered to powder coat all for wheels for $100 any color i wanted that he has. So i jumped all over it. The color is ford blue.

Then had to get some coilovers to be a little happier with the ride.

Then I was doing doing visual mods for now and wanted more power so I went to dallas and picked up a 1jzgte VVti.

And here comes the time to pull the 2jz engine was running perfectly fine.

Then there was the big problem i ran into. The engine had tipped when shipped here and the tab was broken i hunted high and low to find used covers and finally found one set on ebay and snagged em.

New Covers

Then on to replacing parts and moving parts over to the 1jz then installing it into the is300

Then I began installing all of my AEM sensors needed and the power steering.

Then came more parts for the car. The last time i will buy product from CX Racing. They don't tell you have to remove half the crap on drivers side to fit the piping and it still rubs the frame bad.

Then just a week ago we found a wrecked 2004 is300 locally that was mint condition. So i took the rear seats and the door panels. and i only paid $100 for everything!

From These panels

To these lovely ones

Grabbed the trunk mat and board for mine.

Rear Seats Before and After

Then i got this bright idea with a 7" touchscreen to tinkering with while i wait for the harness from tweaked performance and the driveshaft to start it up.

I will be updating this thread shortly!

Those throttle bodies are hard to find, trust me, I know. I had to get an Aristo ETCS-I throttle body and have a custom adapter made to mate it to the 1JZ manifold.
He also is manual and will be running an AEM standalone. He doesn't need the ETCS-I like an auto would

PS res the one that came with my 1jz and i made a bracket to hold it in position for now. I was able to make the hoses and everything for under $20.

The throttle body i have no use for the ETCS-I i am using the stand alone AEM.

Just saw your power goals on the stock turbo... It'll never happen. The maximum boost that you can run is 15psi and even then the ceramic wheel might come appart. You will need to do 1 of 3 things if you want to make that much power on a stock type turbo.
1) Send your turbo to driftmotion to have them do a 60-1 upgrade: approx $750

2) Buy a Kinugawa turbo upgrade (somewhat unreliable from what I have read): $550-750

3) Buy a Tomei Arms M8280 turbo (Best option but most expensive) : $1300

Just a tip to anyone doing this. The NON-TRAC Throttle body has a 4 wire TPS and the ETCS has a 3 wire TPS. Well I went through the joys of moving the parts from the ETCS to the other one so i could use the 3 wire considering my harness was made for this. The 2 screws that hold the butterfly are a SOB to get out i had to use screw extractors and they still broke off and had to drill them out. Luckily saved the threads and re tapped them.

This is probably the most tedious thing i have done on the IS300 is reassembling the TPS sensors rod and butterfly.

Driveshaft will be in tomorrow.

Intercooler piping is completely done. For anyone that wants to use the CX Racing 2JZGTE piping kit it will fit you just need a 2 1/4-2.5" to 3" 90 Degree reducer for turbo side. You will also need a 2.75" to 3" 90 Degree reducer for throttle body. You need to remove windshield washer bottle and the Airbag sensor for the drivers side. You will need to cut drivers side TB pipe about an 1-2" and have the end re rolled to make it fit better that was my whole problem all along come to find out.
