Interesting, I never thought about running an MP3 player straight to the amp (I assume). I do all my music through my MP3 player, but at least the headunit is good for GPS&maps and stuff.

How did you make it work this way?

you're pretty much spot on! the EQ is the only thing between the amps and the MP3 player (iPhone in my case)

basically, instead of running RCA to RCA cables to a head unit, I ran RCA to 1/8" headphone cable thus "deleting" the conventional head unit. You can almost look at the MP3 player as the HU.

it worked for me because I didn't want my turbo gauges on top of the dash and I don't listen to CD's or radio, haha

Nice, yeah I was thinking how easy it would be to simply bypass the headunit all together and just wire the 1/8" headphone cable to the BeatSonic harness. Wouldn't need that with the equalizer I suppose... just gotta have the amp on at all times.

what I like about the EQ is the bypass button giving the ability to tune the amp gains and frequencies before equalization. the EQ also has it's own 7v gains, giving lots of headroom and efficiency to the amps, i.e.: low amp gain. plus, dash mounted volume and fader

speaking of... this will be replacing the dual amp setup:

Nice amp! I'm a long time fan of JL Audio, use to have a single W7 in a seventh order bandpass box my boy built. Now I just have a couple mild 12's. Anyways, that's an awesome amp. Nice you got the right steering wheel lol.
Good stuff man.

thanks a bunch! this will be my first ever JL component. stoked to get it installed. my current mono subwoofer amp isn't giving the sub the extra 100w it's rated for anyway!... won't come until after reinstalling the engine, of course.
I think that wheel will compliment the console nicely

^Very nice SFI damper! Yeah, you won't be disappointed with that amp's performance. I've heard nothing but good things and my cousin has one. Good investment!
Good luck with the buildsubscribed.

HA! truth be told: the amp was not in the budget. it was exchanged for the trashed MKIV diff they sold me. they're actually an audio company and it was just by chance they had car parts for sale... thankfully the trans they sold me was in good shape

either way, they took care of me and hooked it up with the amp

here's a bit of my diff nightmare via Jack's Transmission:

I let so many of those wheels slip by, I snagged this one as soon as I saw it.

Tim is the MAN over at Jack's. Awesome customer service... makes me wish I had more business to give them! (not really tho, haha)

I would have been all over that damper if it were posted... not too late! I'm sure someone will be happy to take it off your hands

thanks for the comments
