blkdout's street car

Hopefully, the pics will do most of the talking here.... a lot of before and after stuff, etc. hope this becomes a helpful, quick-read
also want to thank the ones who encouraged and helped make this car what it is today. you know who you are

Anyway, I'm the second owner of this '02 black on black, LSD, fully loaded, no NAVI, picked it up with ~25k miles in March 2003.

First "Mods" (in no particular order) were 20% tint all around, Eibach Pro's and Illuminas, AAC Halos, 'Sherwood Dash' Carbon Kit, Injen intake, Altezza grill (modded emblem for Lexus) and, of course, had to black-out all the light housings

pretty much sat like this for YEARS:

Experimenting with eyelids

My dad threw out my fog lights sitting in the garage so it ran without those for a long time

trunk setup:

before:

after:

NOW WE GET SERIOUS:

Put some 18's on and could no longer stand the look of the stance and that spoiler

So I contacted Figs:

and now it sits like this:

was boosted before dropped so the timeline is off

anyway:

before:

after:

before:

after:

making 430HP and 400TQ on ^that^ setup. (SRT 2.75 [with some upgrades], tranny cooler, SRT sprag and valve body.)

now this is happening:

Ready for Machining!

Thought it'd be fun to share the piston differences.... My tiny little GE rods making 400TQ vs. GTE rods!

My builder said the engine is PERFECT! No wear anywhere. Bearings, crank, cylinder walls ALL perfect!
only issue was a bit of blow-by which I was already aware of. he said it was most likely due to the factory tolerances not being setup for boost. nice.

MUCH more to come... I know I left some stuff out.

scrapping the GTE pistons/rods for CP 9:1 pistons and Manley turbo tuff rods with upgraded pins more pics when they come in

keeping the 6265 turbo and E6X and current tune until we go E85... next yearish? I've been talked into a ProEFI

V160 parts on order:

had the trans rebuilt ("Stage 2") by Jack's months ago and haven't even seen it yet it's sitting at my builders dad's shop
definitely giving his dad a case of beer for storage fees, haha
Jack's had a great turnaround time and communication!

Great first IS build post!

Nice documentation/pics, I look forward to this ongoing build. Great looking car too, very clean. I had no idea the GTE rods where that much bigger, thought just alittle. Good luck!

Hey it's about time you posted up!!! I've been wondering where this thread has been my whole life lol.

Some great looking parts there for the boost build... and I was also looking at how much thicker those pistons were! Nice stuff. Obviously you're going for more than 400 HP... what's the goal?

Oh, and THANKS for getting rid of that hideous spoiler haha!!!

Oh, and where's the radio/stereo?

Can't wait to see more

Thanks a lot!!.... wondering your whole life?

it was my pleasure to get rid of that spoiler, haha, trust me! you'd be surprised how many compliments I got on it tho. weird.

stereo consists of that EQ you see under the gauges. yup. that's it... there's a RCA to headphone jack hooked up to it for virtually any MP3 player.

lastly, and honestly, the MAIN GOAL right now is to create a reliably running drivetrain. we're building it to handle gobs of power but plan on keeping the same tune until next year. The idea is to get it running this summer and put some miles on it... okay, MAYBE we'll turn it up to 500hp this year maybe

then, next season, turn up the boost. maybe run E85 and ProEFI... we'll see, haha!

Also, nice SRT FFIM

official numbers were 400 TQ and 430 HP... GTE head gasket, ARP head studs (both included in the SRT kit)

can't wait to run that FFIM! yours looks a lot better tho!
