great work mike! i for one am not looking for a cosmetic piece... most of the parts on my car are for function... hopefully we can get this one to be cosmetic AND functional =) keep up the great work. i know that nerd that's posting on here knows his shit... but perhaps he missed the class on tact and etiquette as well. anyhow, good luck with the R&D!

OK I added the small fins into the cutout and I will give this design a shot first. Just need to model up some drawings now and send to my cutter.

^^ It channels the outer air a bit more and makes things look slightly more cosmestic. It will hold the flow slightly but its probably more for stiffness in the peice above. I plan on being flush with the bumper at the front. Air around the wheels is going to be pretty turbulent since they are fully blocking. I added the cutback corners to my design to create a cascading flow wrap around those wing peices and direct that back towards the center. Like a swallow tail on a snowboard

I will know here pretty soon. I think I will offer powdercoated steel, aluminum and carbon at a later date.

can the aluminum be anodized without significantly increasing price?

it will be too big to anodize economically. That is why the thin steel with powdercoat will be a better route. Carbon eventually....eventually.
