I'm still confused as to why anyone wants this? My trunk pops open and stays open all on its own...Lube the seal with tire shine and adjust the spring as necessary.

Poster, I mean poster. What have I done?

well mine used to make noise, now it doesn't, it used to spring up sporatically, now its smooth. my sub box couldn't be mounted on the rear deck, now its there. it stays up securely now, before if someone put their hand on it it would fall. its great, and people notice too, people that know nothing about my car.

a trunk kit would be nice!!! the brackets that act as hinges for the spring rods broke on my car and the trunk would fall on my head. after about 5 good blows to the head i decided i had to do something. i bought a couple gas shocks and made brackets to bolt to the rear speaker deck(under the cover). hooked the struts to that and to the trunk arms and now it doesn't fall on my head!!! BUT it does not pop open. i have to help about the first 1/4 of travel and then it'll shoot up and not a chance it will go down without a good tug and a firm push shut. our trunk arms suck because they are mounted on the inside of the trunk and swing down inside. this also takes away trunk space. newer trunks that "pop" open have the arms and struts mounted on the top side of the trunk opening. fig, if you get time amongst all your projects to work this out it would be awesome.

We are trying to take out the torsion bars that keep the trunk up. Due to the size some of us can't put custom sub box(s) under the rear tray due to those bars. If you take those bars out you have a limp trunk. If you leave them in you can't use the rear tray for custom box(s). Personal preference more or less. I'm in for a carbon fiber one.

proof that I worked on this this past weekend. I had to weld up a support fixture to hold the hinge sheetmetal since it normally mounts to the trunk deck lid. My first really functional mechanism still does not have enough travel. I need to verify limit points to confirm.

me three Mike! i fabbed up my won custom trunk prop kit a few years ago using some struts meant to be used on a toyota hood (can't remember the model of the car).

i'd get a professionaly made Figs kit if there one though! since i already don't have the factory hood prop bars..
