2007 IS350 XM Radio Installation "XM Ready"

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and just recently purchased a new 2007 IS350. It has just about everything in it except for the XM radio that was an option.

My car is apparently "XM ready" which sounds like to me all is missing is some sort of module, and that installing an antenae isn't even required.

Does anyone know where I can buy the module, the part number, or what actually is involved with installing XM in the 2007 model? I understand it is different than the 2006 IS350. I google searched and everything and can't find anything!

I'm pretty good with electronics and don't want to pay the dealership a fortune if I can just plug in some receiver in the trunk or something.

Thanks in advanced!

6 views and nobody knows anything? Surely the information on getting an XM module isn't that unknown

Not sure about the IS (yet), but in my S2000, all it was was plugging in a module in the trunk and installing the antenna on the trunklid. I think the IS comes with the shark fin, so it should be a plug and play.

Hi,

I'm not sure if you have your answer but adding XM radio to my 2007 is something I will also do. From what I've found so far it's a simple plug and play operation. Two kits are required: the XM tuner and the mounting kit. See the attached pdf for all part numbers and installation guide. I'm debating installing myself or just letting the dealer install at my 30 day service.

Good Luck!

Do it yourself, the dealer will charge you more to install it than the cost of the tuner!

Thanks for the instructions...that's awesome! Looks easy, the only thing that I'm not so sure about is the very last instruciton about initalizing stuff. Does anyone know what all this entails?

I paid $239.20 plus shipping from www.lexuspartsmall.com

Saved a few bucks

P.S. Went back and looked at the invoice.. they charged $18.60 for freight which seems very high. Still the total charge was $257.80

Wow! That's even better. I'll check out that site to see what else they have at a better price.

Hey Guys,
I'm looking at buying an 06' IS350 and am talking price with the guy. I asked him if the car is XM ready and he doesn't know. The car does not have NAV, but I saw an AM-SAT button on the stereo. I am a sat radio-junky and don't think I can have a car without it... How can I tell if it does?

All 2ISes are XM ready by default.

Some (it was optional) already have XM in em.

Only way to tell is to either take the trunk apart to look for the reciever, or just press the Am-SAT button a few times and see if you ever get anything besides AM radio.

Be aware however that since XM is now built into 2010+ models the parts for the install on older models are supposedly hard to get anymore (possibly discontinued- I'd check with Sewell or another dealer for details).

If you can get the parts though it's very easy to do yourself, all done in the trunk and plugs right in.

Hi there..I'm an IS noob. I recently bought an '07 IS250 that's sat ready, but nothing installed. I called a nearby Lexus dealer and they said they don't install satellite radios anymore and the parts are discontinued. I did see the parts on this site though:
2007 Lexus IS XM Satellite Radio - Audio/RSE

Anyone ever purchased anything from this place?

I checked the Sewell parts site and it's discontinued there too. Best Buy won't install it either. Aargh. The radio wasn't a deciding factor in me buying the car, but it would be nice to have down the road.
