Turbos always look small in pics but when you see them in real life, they're much bigger than they appear. Those turbos look to be T4 flanged and it looks like a 3" inlet as well. Still surprised they went with a rear mounted system, personally for a show car it's more pleasing to the eyes to have 2 nice turbos in the engine bay rather than making someone bend over and stare at the mufflers. Maybe I'm wrong and Artisan is a marketing genius by hiring 2 hot girls in thongs that will be constantly bending over and looking at the turbos during Sema?
ya i'm pretty confused on why they went the these small REAR twin turbos??
hmm... we'll just have to see the dyno numbers to prove the +600rwhp
Most likely because it's a little easier to package up in a short period of time. Rather than pull a motor, mock up 2 manifolds & checking for clearance issues, and dropping the motor back to see if everything fits. It'll be easier and less time consuming to install the rear mounted setup. SEMA is the beginning of next month so worst case, nothing works and the car doesn't run but you got a turbo system installed. Just jack up the rear end of the car and let everyone see the turbos...it's all about smoke & mirrors and a pony show.
^^^pretty much, the car really doesn't even have to run they could just puch it in.....but some biggest advantage for people who use a remote mount system do it for ease of install and removal
I am not sure if anyone has thought about this yet, but I would think mounting the turbos in the rear like that would not be good if it gets wet while driving. What if a rock gets trusted into the turbo from the road or tire? Even if you put a filter over it, the rock would break through and bye bye turbo's.
Anyways, its just a thought.

Interesting set up, creative to say the least! That's what ya call thinking outside the box for sure.
I' sure you loose some efficiency by placing the turbos so far away, but if you have not done any internal work, and you are looking for a low boost solution, this can be an effective solution, and at a lower price point as well.

I just swung by the Lexus SEMA booth a little while ago during setup, and was chatting with Five Axis' Troy Sumitomo about this issue. Troy thinks it's lack of underhood space that led Artisan/Fox to the unorthodox twin turbo placement.
I'll head back there in a little bit and see if I can dig up more info.

i saw it at SEMA and i thought it was the nicest lookin F there! it was sittin right next too the 5axis isf. i like the 5axis isf alot and the design of it but i hate to say it but it was looking really rough... the door handles where they shaved and put new handles in where cracking out and the paint was pretty rough (not sure if that is how its supposed to be since it is a flat black) but i would have to say the Artisan ISF was the best F there!

There is a reason why manufactures locate turbos AS CLOSE to the exhaust manifold as possible... or in the case of a GT-R... they're molded into the exhaust manifold.
BMW has even gone to lengths to places the turbos on top of the engine (in the new 4.8 X6)... a inverted design to further reduce lag.
Throw in the fact that water rocks and many things can damage the turbos... this is not a smart setup at all.
The only advantages I can see are ease of install (engine clearance) and no overheating issues.
