CD Changer ERROR 3

I had a very strange thing happen this morning. About to pull out of the driveway to begin my commute, went to swap my cd full of MP3s with two that I had just created, Hit the eject button as I have done time and time again... changer just spins. No discs are ejected. Well having seen this before... cycled to the next cd.. went to eject it... just spins. Waited like 35-45 seconds possibley 1.5 minutes... Nothing.
CD player mechanisim completely shuts off. I am able to browse to the radio and or alternate sounds... nop problem. Returning to the cd restarted the eject cycle again. Finally after 10 minutes, ERROR 3 appeared and I turned the car towards the lexus dealership--- which had no one in line so I was happy about at least that. Explained the problem to the service writer... order a new one. This had happend once before minus the error, I was able to eject one.. then the rest followed. Just an FYI... if you see the words ERROR on your cd read out (DVD too)... Call your service rep and have them handle it. 3-5 days to get the head unit in... and replacement at no charge as its under warranty. **If you have cd that remain in the unit through the swap period, they send it back to the factory to open up and will send those back to you.

Maybe I will get that IPOD now just in case...

yeah, CD's jamming was a common occurence on the 1st gens, especially burned CD's. In my 1st gen, it started happening the last couple of months I had the car. I had to take the changer apart to get the stuck CD's out.

I thought Lexus would have improved the mechanism on the 2nd gen, guess not. It is pretty amazing to see the mechanism in action. Its amazing that the damm thing actually works!!!
