BIG UPDATE--Opinions Needed: What should I pay for a CPO 2006 IS 350 w/18k miles?
Hi guys, I'm thinking about buying a IS 350 I saw yesterday on my local dealership and selling my 01' IS 300.
It's navy blue w/ tan interior and has about 18k miles on it. No Nav or ML sound system. It does have the heated/air conditioned seats.
Anyway, there's nothing wrong with my current IS so I probably won't upgrade unless it's a screaming deal. So what's a good number to shoot for when i go talk to the dealer? It's from lexus dealership and it will be a certified pre-owned with the 3 year 100k warranty.
I won't say what I'm thinking I want to pay b/c I don't want to influence your opinion.
Thanks in advance!!
Mods feel free to move this thread if this isn't the right place.

This about what I was thinking....$25k out the door would be a good deal from a dealer and anything less would be a screaming deal...From looking around I could probably pick one up from a private party for around $22k if I'm patient but I like the idea of buying a CPO from the dealer.
Also, this is the same dealer and sales lady I bought my current IS 300 and I've also sent her two or three referrals who have bought cars from her over the years--I hoping that helps me get a good deal.

That's also super low mileage. I thought my 06 was low at 23,000. You also should find out if all the TSB and safety recalls have been done.

Good point..I didn't even think about the recalls....i remember i got brand new tires for my '01 IS 300 about a year after I bought it due to a recall..that was sweet.

This month I almost sold my IS300 to get me an IS350. I saw a private party ad for approx. $22k+ and CPO at my local dealer is $25k and above. Most of them have decent mileage but not as low as 18k miles.

Going to test drive tonight....they are asking $29k got them to $27k without really trying if I buy by the end of the year...not sure what the financing would be (although I'd probably put at least $15k down).
I'll probably sell my '01 outright on autotrader--i don't think i even want to know what they would offer me on trade in--probably like $5k or something stupid (83k miles on my car). I think I could get close to $10k on AT.

Well I drove it last night and it's a nice car...I wasn't blown away by the power compared to my '01 but it's definitely a little quicker...It's also pretty close to a base model. The only upgrades i noticed were the heated/A/C seats, wood trim on the console, and the lip spoiler.
Still trying to decide if I want to go for it...Has anybody on this board ever been successful at having lexus throw in free maintenance to make a deal??
I was thinking of trying to get it for $25k out the door with free routine maintenance for 3 years and free all weather mats. I don't think I can pay more than that for a base model car that's now 4 model years old.

25 for a CPO without all the maint stuff is a fair market price. Look it up on Edmunds.com. If you don't think it's that much more powerful than you're old IS300, it's probably not for you anyway.

Was your 01 turboed?
Because an IS350 is a lot faster than an NA IS300... like ~2+ full seconds faster 0-60 and in the 1/4 mile.

That'd be base model with premium package and spoiler as its options... you can certainly keep looking for one with more features if there are any you specifically want though, with the 2IS in its 5th year now there should be a decent selection of used or even CPO models out there.
You might get the dealer to throw in free oil changes (but they'd only be valid at that dealer, not any lexus dealer)
FYI- the 60k it the only maintenance that's fairly expensive you're likely to hit in the next 3 years anyway... (other than oil and filter changes you have brake fluid at 30k then brake fluid and spark plugs at 60k and that's it till brake fluid at 90k and coolant at 100k)
Thanks for the info...I had a friend of mine that works at a dealership do a little digging to see what the 350 is going for at auction and he came up with b/t $21k-$25k (the $25k had the nav and ML package). I'm not dying to have the nav & ML although it would be nice so this car will work for my needs.
My dealer took the one i'm looking at in on trade so odds are they have closer to $20k into the car at this point. I'm emailing the sales lady later today with my offer so we'll see how it goes.
What's everyone's opinion boy style? Do you think they will release a new one pretty soon (I think they are due to change it). If so, that's going to drop the going rate on this body style so might be able to pick one up for even cheaper in near future.

What you're looking at now is a very low mileage car. It's barely broken in. Along with CPO that would be worth quite a bit in piece of mind. Auction cars are usually cars that dealers couldn't sell off their lots. I dunno about a body style change but IS300's have held value pretty well.
