I've had a nagging suspicion my car has been pulling, but haven't tested it under controlled circumstances.

FYI, I think any car will track straighter at higher speeds (relatively speaking) because the forward momentum of the car easily overcomes the small lateral forces that would pull it to one side or the other.

What tires do you have, Dunlops?

Tony, if you have Dunlops, a swap to the Bridgestones should help. Keep us posted.

Hey guys,

I just had my girl serviced at 20K miles at 14months to the day and I knew that I had some moderate wear on outter front lip of the Dunlop 18s but figured that was normal. Come to find out that the inner conners as well. Tech noted that the front end was out of alignment but I have EVEN wear on the rears and less than 4/32s of tread gone. I think there is definately a pattern here and each of us has taken good notes to pass this info along to the Lexus guys and hopefully the 07 IS group will not run into the same issues. Oddly enough, I noted the same wearing on the fronts at 15K and there was no alignment issue there or at the 10K service point as well. Odd, you say that it showed up on the 20, isn't it? I think the corrective actions sited above from Buxton.. I think... may be dead on point. I am bring this up to my service guy 2/13--- as it stands... 20K on all for stock tires at 14 months and counting. I would love to hear any truly specific details on the performance differences fron the Duns to the Bridgestones.

F1, thx for the update. Did they offer to correct your alignment for free?
Nice work on those tires. They swapped all of mine out to help remedy the pulling problem. So I'm of little help on how many miles are expected.
How did they leave things with you on the tires? Do you keep them since they blame the problem on alignment, not the tires or a car defect?

Firestone has life-time alignment for like $79 or something.. i got it and
you can bring it in anytime you want.. i think it's def worth it if you are
switching rims every season... just ask your local firestone..

I dont think I want them monkeying around with my girl for any reason. But that's just me. I had a run in with Firestone with my Civic that I kept on Bridgestones. Wasn't too pleased with them. But hey, if thats cool for some, then my two cents are in on it.

Hey bro, they left it on Alignment and wanted me to drop 1100 on new shoes. Told them I'd research similar issues before committing to new shoes over the next 5k miles. I fwd'ed this thread on to my service advisor.. cause I did it no justice in detailing to him how deeply we all got on the descriptions to our respective dealerships over the concerns. Couple that with it happening to more than one of us, smells something should be looked at from the Lexus point of view, not just our pocketbooks' perspective.

stupid lexus tech

i'll keep it short because i have almost reached my boiling point with my dealership. I take my is in for warranty issues, main reason is that it pulls to the right...

the tech cross rotated my front wheels.....i don't recall if the stock tires are directional or not, i have nitto 555 which are directional.

that is so hilarious, someone is inspection/working on "lexus" vehicles and doesn't even know about directional tires...

wouldn't want him working on my brakes...he might forget to bleed them or leave the bleed screw off...

That seems to happen quite a bit. Some have even rotated front to back.

The stock tires on 18" wheels are directional; not sure about the 17s.

Lexus quoted me tire rotation when I asked about what was included in their $175 oil change service! (I got the oil changed at Toyota for $50 instead)

F1, I have done multiple writeups on the comparison of the two. I had both sets.
IMHO, the dunlops are a better tire. My Bridges are almost gone (sucks, I only have 15K!!! and had the dunlops changed at 7K!!!) I am considering going back to the dunlops, or if not to some stickier tires...even if it means more road noise.

Glad to hear you' gave them this info. I can't believe they asked you to pay for new tires to remedy the problem? Or am I misreading that?

Sorry to hear about that, glad you caught it. I hope you've seen the thread below, regarding pull to the right? I also hope they don't say you needed to buy Bridgestones to remedy the problem. I can't imagine Lexus can expect those of us with the pull problem to ONLY purchase one model tire!?
