Are you sure the GS kits aren't available? I was looking on their website and they advertise a stainless steel prop kit for 1998-2005 Lexus GS300/400/430 models.
Yes these struts are for the OEM steel hood and are too powerful for a CF hood.
On another note, Mike of Figs Props made one for me that is lower powered specifically for a CF hood. I got it last week. They are not beautiful stainless steel like the ones above though......
My hood came in on Monday!! now I have to find a truck/minivan and go to Tires23.com to pick it up.
Also... what's it like opening a carbon hood with stock struts? Does it want to pop up violently? Or is it just that you need to hold on a bit harder as you lift the hood?

I haven't picked it up from Tires23 yet! Do you have a van / truck you can lend me?
I don't plan on keeping the stock struts, won't know what that would be like. I don't want to risk having the hood bend.
I just installed my hood prop kit now. It was pretty easy. I was so worried about the hood coming out of alignment... but it never happened. Also... never had that problem with installing the engine bay bracket over the painted hole either. Just used the screw from the relay box to take out the paint.
I really like being able to open the hood with one hand now! Finally... just like all the other Lexus models.

Well if you COME OUT TO A MEET... you'll be able to see. It looks exactly like the manufacturer photos that I posted in the beginning of the thread. Not much to see... but it really does seem as if the car should have come with these from the factory.
