Rainy Saturday.

Today was head light day...I just had a new set of headlight housings put in (under warranty) this week.

I spent today...creating a template for the IS F headlights - clear protection film ( I use Venture Shield). I had 5 feet of material left over and enough to cover the headlights. 3M directly wanted $50.00 for pre-cut peices and another $50 to install - when I outsourced a price. So way to much money, when I have extra material laying around.

I would say the 2 gen headlights are a difficulty level of 8 /10 PITA!

The old IS300 was a 2/10 and very easy to do.

I also removed my fogs and put a smoke blue protective covering on them.

Tomorrow I change the HID's to 6K, put in LED city lights and install 6K HID fogs, along with new fog bezels as the old ones were beat to shit.

I will post pictures later, once the protective film has cleared (dried up)

I'm a bit confused with the lights. Did you swap out the factory fogs for HID's or the actual lights or both?

Was it a DIY job?

The dealer put in new light housings on Wednesday
I swapped out the factory HID headlights and upgraded to 6K bulbs
I swapped the fogs from Halogen H11 to HID 6K
I pulled out the fogs housings and covered the lens with protectant and changed the fog surrounds with new parts at the same time

...easier to do than the IS300

What is the difference in the upgrade? Brigther, stronger? Are they legal?

Also, I'm NOT very handy at all but I've always wanted to swap out my fogs with HID's just figured I'm not handy enough to do it right.

Did you do it on your own. Can you give a step by step?

Everything he did was legal. The bulbs are brighter and do help at night time.

Its honestly a straight plug and play job. The hardest part I encountered when doing it on my 2nd gen was taking off the clips for the fender liner. Everything else was plug and play.

And if Digger says its easier than the IS300 which is prolly a 2/10 on the difficulty meter then this job should be a 1.

The only way you will ever learn is to experiment and try it for yourself. Theres only so much you can read on the internet.
