psssft... you still had to photoshop out the license plate..
if it was REAL dirty.. you wouldn't even need photoshop hahahah
I think I'm gonna wash it this weekend... because I don't want a cop pulling me over for not having my license plate being clearly visible. I checked the lights though... and you can still seem them clearly.
It's just so demoralizing to go thru the effort of washing your car... and then 1 day later it's a covered in dirt again. For the past year or so I've given up on washing the car in the winter for looks... and just wash it once in a while to prevent salt concentrations from building up.
Well I think the back of my car is pretty bad... but yeah... most cars in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) are pretty dirty now. After a snow fall... when the snow starts to melt you get this slushy mess which mixes with the dirt that's already on the road. Then when you drive thru it... the crap gets all over your car. Even when it's not raining/snowing here... in situations like that you are constantly using the windshield washers so you can see where you're going. I always keep an extra bottle of washer fluid in my trunk just in case.
One time I ran out of fluid on the road... and it was NOT pleasant.
I handwashed my car yesterday. It's SPARKLING clean.
Now I catch even more attention on the road. Just great!
You are so brave to wash your car by hand now. In the spring, summer and fall I hand wash my car... but during the winter I go to those coin operated pressure washers. The water at those places are heated as well.
Post a pic of your car again after a couple days have passed.

Yeah will never hand wash a car before June again in Canada.
A few years ago, I was bored and thought it would be fun to hand wash the S420. Well it was the end of March/start of April in Manitoba. Its not very warm then... I learned my lesson. My hands were numb for hours.
I only handwash. Its not too bad....I just go early in the morning(7am) and there are very few people. If im lucky i get to dry it off to inside the bay, but if im not, then Im stuck outside drying off as quickly as possible before it freezes.
It wasn't sub-zero! Maybe more like a couple degrees. I actually went to my parents house. They actually have an underground garage with a carwash area, so I used that. It wasn't super warm down there, but it was slightly warm nonetheless. Maybe about 1 to 3 degrees as opposed to the -10 degree temperature and wind chills outside. *Brrrrr* The funny thing is, I used cold water to wash the car and later found out that they too had hot water. GRRRRR.
I guess the temperature had to be at least a degree or so. Just barely passing the freezing point as I didn't experience the "mitt being stuck to the car" effect. The ol' fashion way of washing the car is always tons of fun.
An underground garage with a carwash? I wonder what that's like, it sounds pretty pimp. I'd like to check this place out. Let me know the next time you wash your car, and I'll come along too. My car is sooooo dirrttttty right now, it's not even funny. You'd think I hadn't washed it in months!
^^^ Big enough to seeeeeee all the dirt and grime! I bet pictures don't do much justice though.
T i h o r - one day, buddie ... one fine day. But until then, the coin-operated car wash is your next best friend. BTW, didn't you say you had pictures of your "filthy" car? Post 'em. No matter what, it's not as dirty as mine was.
DroPpCeLi - sorry babe. Don't be mad. It was rather unexpected. Next time we wash, you can hose down the cars, and i'll scrub.
You guys might want to check out some rinseless washes; it's what I use on client cars in the winter. But ya, washing in winter stinks; normally I just pull into a coin op to spray all the salt out from under the car then drive off. I only have one pic of my car dirty, but I can't post it... it's against my profession! :D
Rinseless washes?!?! Do you mean the touchless car washes? I tried those on my previous car... but didn't like them. I found they weren't good at getting off built up dirt. For the same price you can go to the coin-operated ones and make sure you get every dirt spot off.
And in regards to your dirty pic... don't worry... what's the chances of a client browsing this site?

Basically you mix 2oz of product in with 2 gallons of water than wash the car. It's very popular over at Autopia; I've been using the one I linked for quite some time now. It doesn't make washing it any *warmer*, but you use a lot less water and don't need a hose, so you can do it in your garage, etc. That's how I do the cars I detail in winter, since I have an underground garage but can't use a hose down there.
Oh the coin ops are good too especially if you can bring your own bucket/mitt.
I've had clients from this site! I was joking though, this is the only one I have with dirt on it (although it's plenty filthy right now).
