I bought an altezza front end and my body shop is having problems hooking them up. For some reason he doesn't think they are HID. Any ideas or solutions?
Can anybody give me a link on a HID conversion kit that includes everything I need and will make it easy on my body shop guys to deal with. I already have Bulbs. Please and Thank you
Any kit on ebay works. I don't know what Altezza bulbs use, 9005 probably? If that's what it is, look for that (i.e. 9005 HID conversion). If you use the Altezza fenders, the headlights bolt right up.
I think I'm going to buy an HIDC conversion kit on EBay and buy back my old ones I sold to a guy who doesnt need em.; I think they are JDM as well but just the HID version
JDM has the amber blinker that uses a single 1157(1156) bulb. usdm version uses 2 1157(1156). I cant remember which is the single element one by memory. If you still planning on using the jdm headlights, i would suggest a few things that might help you get everything installed correctly.
you will need 9006 socket from any honda at a junk yard. splice the hid socket and butt connect the 9006 in its place. get 9006 bulb from nearest auto parts store. Sylvannia is a good brand and you are now done installing jdm headlights. you wont have the coolness of hid setup, but at least your saving money and less headache for the body guy. For the blinker, there is only one hole for the blinker. i would keep the other bulb in the loose plug. if not, you will get the fast blinker, since it thinks that the bulb is burnt out. in reality, you left it out
There is no good place in the engine bay to mount the ballast. But you probably will come back here and ask us where do we put our ballast. to answer it, where ever you want. as long it doesnt melt any plastic or wires it can touch. the ballast gets very hot to touch and can burn you. you can mount it on your crash bar, on the rad support, on the frame, etc. you decide where you want it.
last thing, you dont need an hid kit to install the jdm headlights
Problem is I got a set of non HID jDM ones and I sold my OEM set. But the guy I sold em too is very nice and didnt end up needing em and is about to sell em back to me.

Thank you IS3,
So, If I dont want Hid I just need a 9006 socket and bulb. If I do want the HID I need the 9006 HID conversion harness. Are the any you would recommend or are they all pretty much the same? The guy I sold my other headlights too ended up not needing them so he's going to sell them back to me. So I will either install those for now and maybe sell the JDM headlights. Or hold on to em until I figure out how to make them hID. They are the black housing ones.
I think I'm just going to pull the trigger on these and have my body shop guys play around with it. it's only 30$. I'm also getting my old OEM headlights back from the guy I sold my other front clip to because he didnt end up needing them so he's going to give me a super deal because i gave him one. So I got a plan a and a plan b. Thanks guys.
I read 9005 for d time running lights and 9006 for the other light. I read a few threads about it. I think I just need a 9006 conversion kit. I also have a set of the us version on the way so I will have both just incase my little kit doesnt work.
Already done but that's an easy fix. if this little kit is too much work I'm just going to try and sell the headlights and use some OEM ones. Seems like what is going to happen anyway
Alright,
The body shop got them working as non HID headlights. I got a cheap little HID conversion kit. Hopefully, I can figure it out if not I'm gonna get rid of em. Also, if I think the original headlights will look better with my wheels and car color that's another factor of why I'm gonna get rid of em. I'll keep yall posted. The car is almost done. Hust needs new wheels and an alighnment. And someone to pay the crazy assss bill!
What are you all buying japanese headlamps for? They drive on the left hand side of the road in Japan and headlights have a beam pattern that goes like this
\__ \__ with a bias towards the left.
whereas cars that drive on the right hand side of the road have a beam pattern that goes like this
__/ __/ with a bias towards the right.
You will find yourself constantly blinding oncoming drivers...
Also, if you're putting an HID kit into a lamp with Halogen reflectors, you're gonna have a bad time. Halogen bulbs (meaning the bulbs themselves) have a different light spread than Xenon (HID) bulbs do and will not give out the correct beam if put in the wrong kind of reflector. They emit their light at different points in space in relation to the reflector.
