heh, my TB has been acting up lately - what was wrong with cables to put in all this electronic nonsense? cable operated throttles never went haywire....
to adjust the tps you just undo the screws and rotate the sensor until you get the desired voltage. i think i have decided my next mod is to go big throttle body and big manifold. ETCS is the source of sooo many annoying problems. aftermarket cruise control keeps coming down in price too.

I could give a rats ass about cruise control. And i would SOOOO love to remove DBW and slap a supra TB on there but I'm auto. If i can't narrow this problem down, I'm going to throw an R154 in there.
Okay guys, im bumping this cuz I am really at a loss. Here is the new story.
I broke down and bought an Actron CP9185 that reads ABSLT TPS %
If I put the TPS to about 14.5 by adjusting the TPS and the little screw next to the throttle, when i turn on the car, it revs to about 3k (cold start, i know it shouldn't be like this)
If I back down the TPS to get the car to idle closer to about 1200 (again cold engine) the TPS % is about 22%.
What am I missing here? Is there another screw I can adjust to get the TPS % down to 14-15 while keeping the RPM where its supposed to be?
On the bright side, since the % was WAY too high, this is definitely why the throttle disengages on its own while driving. Need opinions/advice...this is really starting to get on my nerves.
gil you have to recalibrate the tps in the haltech first set it at 15% the closer the better than open the haltech wizard and you will set 0 and 100% for the throttle
when your moving it your halech is thinking your throttle plate is open more than it is so its throwing in fuel

Hummmm I know what you mean now. Just one thing. When calibrating do you press the gas pedal or manually press the throttle on the TB? Also is the TCM disconnected during this? I know if the car is on acc and not on and you press the throttle the motor will kick in and start making noises.
throttle control motor has to be in or you will only get about 5% of your butterfly travel and doing it from the pedal and from the throttle body shouldn't make much of a difference as long as your getting full travel out of your pedal if that makes sense
understood sir. TCM connected..car in ACC..after TPS has been adjusted to 15%, run haltech wizard, set for 0 throttle, fully depress gas pedal and set for 100% sound about right to you?
I'm praying this works....this is ALL i need to fix in order to drive the car MUCH more reliably.
Occasionally I'll get something similar to this. Say I'll pull into a parking lot, pop it in neutral and pull into a parking spot, my revs will hang up at around 2k. As soon as I get the steering wheel straight and park it will come down in a few seconds. Something to do with the power steering it seems like. I know its supposed to idle up a little when theres a load on the power steering but not to this degree haha.
Luckily I have barely had this issue lately. If I reset the ECU it happens more frequently with the first few start ups. Do you have the ECU reset relay?
Have you tried just unhooking the throttle cable to see if its hanging up at all? I know what you mean by the arch with the Supra throttle cable, mine is similar.

That hanging of the throttle is caused by the TCM. I disconnected the plug going to the TCM today (mine was doing the same thing), and it dropped down to 1200. The pro-efi isn't 100% tuned yet (turbo issue) so it's still hunting at idle. I still need to get the idle lower (possible vacuum leak in the manifold). I also clocked my throttle cable assembly so that my cable controls 100% of the throttle opening. Thus, I have no need for that motor. The plan is to remove it, or get a 2JZGTE vvti throttle body. should bolt right in, sans the TCM.
At random times (i can't seem to figure out if its at a specific point) the throttle disengages and seems to progressivly climb on its own. I have to shut the car off and leave it off for about 5 secs and it will reactivate normally.
Me thinks this has something to do with the TPS sensor not being calibrated correctly. I THINK it should be between .60 and .65 but wanted to get some confirmation. Also does anyone know how to actually read that? I know you can adjust it by slightly moving it up or down. I normally do this until the idle reads at about 750-900 but i wanted to get a more precise reading since this is well....important.
Thank you all!
Is the temp guage going down at the same time as the idle goes up? Mine does that at random and I cant stand it.
