Tinted window ticket - NEED EYE DOCTOR - HELP! - my.IS

Hey guys,

Does anyone know of an eye doctor who will write me a notice that says I can have my front windows tinted? Mine is being a cunt bitch and wont do anything for me.

Last night my car was parked on the street in River North downtown in the city and I got a $250 ticket! THE CAR WAS PARKED!! The only way out is to send in a doctors notice with the ticket and a proof of insurance. I'm kinda in a rush since I'm going back to Iowa on Tuesday morning and this thing needs to be in the mail by next Friday.

Now I'm hearing that you need a special license plate that says you can have tints... does anyone know about this?

If you find out let me know!!! I've been paying tint tickets for years here in Iowa. Complete bullshit, you have any idea how many police cruisers I see with dark tinted windows... Okay I forgot that being a cop makes you above the law.

ya i think you do need special license plates for tints that says on it WT (with tints) and am not sure if am right on this but i heard that this doesn't apply anymore meaning you cant have that exception anymore.

That sucks for you guys! I'm so glad I live in AZ. Window tint laws here are still in effect but the cops usually ignore it cuz it's so damn sunny and hot out. lol. I have 6% tint all around and still have not gotten a ticket yet. I drive past cops all the time and they don't do anything. Sorry to brag. I hope you guys get this figured out

Do you live in Iowa, or do you live in Chicago?
I have a friend in Des Moines, IA. If you live in Iowa, I can see if he knows any doctors that would do a favor.
Reason I ask, is if you don't live in Chicago, you can probably write in and fight the ticket and get it dismissed. Stating that you don't live in Chicago, so you don't know why you got a tint ticket.

Well no I live in Chicago, have Illinois plates and all. I go to school in Iowa City that's all. The car was in Iowa for a month until I brought it back to Chicago to put it in the garage for the winter.

Here is the run down for window tints in Illinois

To have window tints you must get a license plate from the state that is black letter/numbers and says "WT".

I got a eye doctor note saying "allow this patient to utilize front window tint etc etc"

So I talked with the Chief of police of a suburb of chicago, and he said that I should be fine with just a note but check with the state

I called the state to ask what i need. And as of a few months ago the law to have front window tints got change. There are only 2 reasons that front window tints are allowed - skin cancer and some disease that starts with an L.

So yea... we are pretty much SOL...

But with the note i think most cops will let you go. My eye doctor is in Western Springs, near LaGrange.

FYI - there is a bill on the governors desk to change the tint law to allow front tints. it would be - 35% all the way around OR whatever in back and 50% up front.

I last check on that bill a couple months ago, and it was on his desk over a month already. Not sure were it stands now

ya I knew the note would possibly work if I had it to show an officer in person... I did hear about the license plate thing though, oh well... I'm just going to pay the ticket I guess and deal with it next summer when I take the car back out.

I was simply stating that at the time being I was upset, using my eye doctor as an scapegoat... I understand completely that her practice is more important than my tinted windows. Shit happens, we'll all live.

Though, adam das, do you have access to one of those notes for me? it is worth a shot to send it in with this ticket. Let me know if you can, I'm going to make a phone call sometime this afternoon on the matter.

Well on the top of the note there is my name and also the name of the practice. It would be to hard to photoshop, edit it around. Plus I dont want to take the chance of the police station calling the doc and getting the doc pissed at me. I actually have bad eyes, been going to him over a year. Took like 1/2-3/4 of a year of asking to get the note. Think he gave me the note to shut me up

I got 2 tickets for tint before Mo changed the law to 35% on the 2 sides. I just sucked it up and payed the fine. To this day I still dont get legal tint just now the cops dont fuck with you cause you can still see in 15% and 20%. Suck it up Mike pay your ticket. I'm sure one or two tickets a year wont break you.

I just paid it online... settled. oh well, at least I know I wont get any more until spring time lol
