Toyota will probably never end up making it lol, It seems that way. They keep coming out with new version when i think the best looking i think was the first one they designed.

So the engine they are using is turbocharged? or no

^I don't see ANY NA 4cyl making 300hp in the next 5 years....not from the factory anyway

And I thought Toyota was trying to keep the weight down on this one? Why the projections of 3k Justin? I mean it's a good guess based purely on what the norm is but have you read anything to suggest that's what it will be?

An article I posted a few pages back points out it'll be around that 3k mark.

Ahhh ok, I missed that one. I'd like it to be around 2900. Light enough to be very sporty but substantial enough to be a solid car. Of course, I say that with ideas of 300hp in mind. if it's only going to have less than 240hp (thinking S2000 4cyl power) it needs to be 2800 or less.

Nothing specifically from Toyota on this particular machine, but there's certainly no reason for me to believe anything else. The lightest RWD 2-door in their lineup right now (IS-C) tips the scales at 3800 pounds.

When they first started talking about the car, they had mentioned a weight target. Soon after, they had to add 'refinement' as the changed their target market from people who want to drive fast to people who want to buy a Totota.

They can certainly prove me wrong, but I have no evidence to make me believe they're even capable of that.

I totally see the logic. But I suppose part of me still has hope that we'll see an MR-S flare come back with that type of purity but with more power. I can dream can't I?

I certainly hope the pessimists are wrong, and would be quite surprised (and pissed) if FR-S weighs more than 2700-2800 lbs.

For the Frankfurt Auto Show the FT-86 II concept was repainted in a bright red-orange and was outfitted with Brembo brakes and dedicated Bridgestone Potenza RE86 tires, as noted in this Kaizen Factor story:

2013 Subaru BRZ to Bow at LA Auto Show

Quote:
The Subaru version of Toyota's FT-86 sports car has been overshadowed for its entire pre-existence with the big T showing sexy concepts at international auto shows while Subie was left with displaying significantly less-sexy bits like the chassis and engine. That, however, will change at the LA Auto Show, where Subaru is tipped to reveal its rear-drive sports car, the BRZ, in all of its glorious sheetmetal.

But wait, no..... it won't be the production car, just a concept. And if the reports prove to be accurate it will be an over-the-top STI-inspired model.

As for the production car, we expect it to finally see the light of day, along with its Toyota sibling, at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show.

Like it's Scion FR-S sibling, the BRZ is expected to hit production with a direct-injection boxer 4-cylinder making around 200-hp.

Look for more info in the run-up to the 2011 LA Auto Show, which takes place November 16-17.
