Toyota files for Trademark FR-S for new Automobile

Toyota Motor Corporation has filed for the trademark FR-S in U.S. and Canada.

U.S. Trademark Application No. 85049145 filed May 27, 2010 for "Automobiles and structural parts thereof".

Canadian Trade-Mark Application No. 1482643 filed May 27, 2010 for "Automobiles and structural parts thereof".

Will this be the official name for the Toyota version of the Toyota/Subaru collaboration car, a.k.a. FT-86 or 086A?

Probably. It's also a very clever play on MR-S (Midship[-engined] Runabout-Sports), the JDM name for the Toyota MR-2 Spider.

In this case, it's Front(-engined) Rear(-wheel drive)-Sports, I presume.

Not killed, but delayed about 2 years.
