I actually think it looks pretty good, better than the current Z4. I'll withhold final judgement until I see the official pics.
If I have an issue with the Z4 redesign, it's that, in every picture I've seen, it looks huge, notably larger than the current one. Maybe it's just optical illusion, but I wish BMW had emulated another Z about to be redesigned (Nissan's) and gone smaller, not larger. Then again, BMW might just be allowing room for the rumo(u)red smaller & lighter Z2.
Good observations, when I first saw the profile it reminded me of a smaller SLR, with a nose only a mother could love. If they're not readily releasing an M version, I wonder if they're going for more roomy luxury over sport? Seems somewhat anti-bmw tho, unless they figure more of their Z4 buyers are older and like the luxo feel?

A remote possibility.
It kinda looks like BMW perceived a size gap between the current Z4 and the late, lamented Z8 (the last truly beautiful BMW)and enlarged the Z4 to fill it, then leaving room for a smaller Z2 to come into the picture later.

Crap! I can't believe they're putting iDrive into their sports car! That better be optional in conjunction with navi, like in the 1 and 3 Series.

All this planning was done when gas was $40/gallon and big cars were the rage. Oops.
Except this one comes with some power in the corners too?
Any eta yet?

What we learned today is that BMW are delaying Z4 press release due the sDrive trademark registration issues in US market. Our sources confirmed two weeks ago that the launch was scheduled for the first week in November and everyone, including us, got excited.
According to Eny from GCZ (connected with BMW), “the model designations has finally been officially registered this Tuesday (11/11) yet BMW AG are still waiting to obtain official letter (registration certificate) from USPTO, and then press release can be issued.”
So, in the mean time, what can be better than some new spy photos of the BMW Z4.
