Camaro help needed

I was wondering if someone can give me an insight on the specs or information on this particular Camaro.

The car has a hood scoop, targa top (open top, but doesnt seems to be convertible), 2 exhausts combined in the center (rather than their usual twin configuration), and the exhaust looked somehow flat in design

I had a chance to race with this car a few days back, and had a problem on keeping up. I could easily paced/overtake a normal z28 with 2 passengers before, but that night, with 3 passengers, I could hardly run even with this 'unique' Camaro

I'm not 100% sure, of course, but I suspect that what you saw is a Camaro SS.

It's basically a Camaro Z28 modded by independent company SLP Engineering. In spite of this, the SS package could be ordered from the factory and had its own regular production code (Y2Y). The combination of the functional hood scoop, forced air induction system and SLP's own high-performance exhaust system boost horsepower to 327.

Here's a link to SLP's site:

Although LT1/LS1 Camaros changed exhaust looks every other year (at least), I don't ever remember a factory (or SLP/factory) configuration like you described.

To me, that says he may have something special under the hood. Or maybe just a cat-back setup. But guessing that he had a Lingenfelter 383 or something would probably make you feel better, huh?

thats the hood alright,
thanks for the clarification Jruhi

the tail exhaust looks like this,

judging from the SLP website, and my own research, the car is probably
a 1998 - 2000 ss with the ls1 v8 engine (hp:320@5200, tq:335@4400)

one bad ass car,
I feel slightly better now
