I'll give the sealed a shot and if I don't like it, I'll have a ported box made.

instead of going with a 12, would it be better for sq if I go with a 15 in a sealed box.

A single 12" is certainly all you need for good SQ. I think, in my personal opinion, that a single 12" if done right is more than enough sub even if you like to crank it quite often.

hardcore sq guys usually use 10" drivers. 12 is def more than enough for sq with a touch of spl

That box would work for the sub for sure. Why are you wanting a new box for it? Have you really gotten it to break in yet? Is it not loud enough? I'd imagine that it's VERY loud. Try some EQ on it too once you let it break in a bit. The sound might change considerably once it's broken in.

Cool, I might be just worrying. I'll let it break in for a few weeks and get it properly tuned before I make my judgment.

Thanks

WOW! - that's all I can say about the sub.

However, the box is leaking air so I have to invest in a new box regardless. Should I go with a sealed or the vented box?

Vented:
12" PORTED JBL GTi MkII MDF SUB ENCLOSURE W12GTi BOX - eBay (item 150296912479 end time Oct-16-09 00:23:00 PDT)

Sealed:

New 12" Sealed Sub Speaker Box Car Bass Black SUV 12S:eBay Motors (item 250507439858 end time Oct-31-09 16:52:35 PDT)

Told you

I'd say go with the vented one. It's just wide enough to fit perfectly in the IS300. Looks to be built for the JBL sub too.
