Stock Nav housing part

You seem to be the electronics guru on this forum, so I thought I'd pose this question to you.

I recently purchased a 2004 IS300 . I didn't want to wait the 3 1/2 months for one with a nav system. I am now looking to install my own. Do you know if its possible to obtain the stock housing unit from somewhere (I've tried to get one from Lexus and they don't offer that part)? If not, do you know what my best alternatives are for having something in that space so it will look stock?

Thanks for all your help,

BGWDivemaster

Question: Why did you decide to use the stock nav housing with a different screen instead of getting the conversion so you can play dvd's with the stock screeen? The reason I am asking is because I am trying to decide what would be a better option. thanks for the input.

1) Because he has '01 IS, Nav was N/A.
2) For more flexibility. You can add virtually any type of AV equipment without getting extra parts. You can also use any type of screen you'd like.
3) Price factor. That conversion you're talking about is $600.

P.S.
oneeyejack is out on vaction for a couple weeks.

It would be best if you would specify your location in the user profile. May also list that you have is200 in your sig. That would be useful for people trying to help.

hmm, maybe it's a different number now. i'm not quite sure. call up a local lexus dealer in singapore and have them look up the number for you. they should be able to give it to you.
