i have an aftermarket alpine NVE-851A nav system in there and a panasonic CX-DVP292U dvd player in there with the stock nav housing. the screen is a farenheit T-7001MHR 7" LCD. i DO NOT have the stock navigation system or screen in there.

instructions on how to build the nav housing are in this thread!

What brand monitor did you use in place of the stock nav monitor? Just curious.

So, the 7 in LCD fits in there with no modification? I am thinking of upgrading my stock Nav screen when I add on the DVD/Tuner function. The only problem is the hook up, I am not sure when wires are connected to the stock Nav screen, it is just a simple RCA hook up or a direct wire. Lisnup, do you think it will call for wire splicing if I try to upgrade the screen? What did that screen run, oneeye?

Chris

i'm not sure how the stock nav screen works. i think that screen only has one input.

the farenheit screen that i'm using has two RCA inputs. i have my nav and dvd connected there into there.

I guess I will have to take the top dash apart and find out. How hard was the install? Or how hard would it be to remove the top piece? Thanks man.

it's really easy to take out. there's a little cover on if you flip up the nav. you'll see an outline of a small piece that's removable. take that piece out and unscrew the two screws. after you remove those all you need to do is yank the housing towards you and it'll come right out. you might have to use a little force.
