haha, thanks don. i actually made those two youtube videos since i had seen yours. so sorry i took your idea, but i guess it was just to more easily describe how i integrated all of it together and so anyone who was thinking of doing something similar could see how it worked.
i just emailed you. just incase you check the forum first, i got all the lexus parts from my local lexus dealer. there's a long list of parts, if you need it, let me know i'll look to see if i can find that list anywhere. motorized is about $700, non-motorized maybe $400 i think.
can u post a pic of how u mounted ur ps2 slim in the glove! thanks
I took the little screws out of the bottom of the ps2 slim, and at home depot got the same screws but a tad bit longer. using a washer for each one (i think there were 4 or 5 screws if i remember correctly), i drilled small holes in the back of the glove box to match the holes on the bottom of the ps2 and put the screws back into the ps2 but from underneat the glovebox, holding it in place. so when you open the glovebox, the ps2 is basically vertical, facing up.
you just have to make sure you measure everything correctly so that you know where to make the small holes in the back of the glovebox (pop the glovebox out past the two rubber pieces holding it in place so that it opens all the way to the floor of the car, you dont have to unscrew it off or anything). also, it helped to make a paper cut out of the shape of the ps2 and use that to mark where i needed to drill the little holes.
wow that looks really good and really cool. +rep if i have any.
Was that the Sound Advice of S. Dixie Highway? I've gotten alot of car audio stuff from there and they've always been very helpful. (Btw Sound Advice is owned by a company called Tweeter and they have stores all over US.)
So do you have any audio control at all through the Alpine unit?

it was sound advice in north miami beach on biscayne blvd (i wanna say around ne 180th street?). i didnt know that about tweeter, but definitely seen them before.
not sure i understand your question about having audio control.
if my headunit reads CD99, then whatever is showing on my screen comes out of my stock soundsystem (Navigation lady that talks, but i never listen to her; tv tuner; or ps2 if im watching a dvd lets say). CD1 is my ipod. those two functions are because of the VAIS Tech Auxiliary Input Unit. i dont control any audio through the screen itself. hope that answers your question
That's pretty much what I have in mind for the iPod. I already have factory nav and a SoundLinq SLU. What cable did you ise for it? Does it charge too? I'm having a hell of a time finding a cable that charges and goes go RCA outs.

its just the cable that came attached to that little VIAS Tech Soundlinq aux input box. it connects to the bottom of the ipod and does charge it.
is your soundlinq slu not the ipod version? if it is, then that should be your cable. if it isnt, they why do you have it (as in, what do you have plugged into it that you wanted sounding out of your stock sound system?)
