Fantastic! With this kit and the Sirius Sportster kit I got for Christmas, goodbye AM/FM (and CDs will certainly be relegated to the occasional listen).
Many thanks for posting this, Sonnet.
Anyone have suggestions for an aftermarket system that would work well with this type of stock setup?
received mine today. got around to installing it after dinner. 30 minutes tops. super easy and quick install. i too hid the grom module to the right of the stereo next to the glove box. but i ran the wire underneath the trac off switch.
going to make a little mount for it and then have it sit in the little hole underneath the trac off/ heated seats buttons.
works well with the iphone, but it throws the "not offically approved product" error message. works fine though.
+rep to sonnet for the info.
just a reminder...
dont forget to plug the climate control and clock plugs back in.
(forgot to do that, had to open it up again)

just got it installed, but the radio is not recognizing the Grom adapter. When I press the CD button to go from the disc to ipod nothing happens. Its an 01 if thats relevant.
is the ipod attached when you start the car? sometimes mine doesn't recognize it because i remote start the car and i have my iphone on me. i just need to plug it in and restart the car and problem solved.
hope its an easy fix like that. good luck. let us know how it goes.
Has anyone found out yet if this unit can hold an Ipod interface cable and an aux in cable at the same time? I know you can get an RCA/3.5mm plug or ipod interface cable but can it do both? I have an iphone and Sirius plug and play radio and want to be able to switch between them. Nice find Sonnet! +rep

I dont think so, I looked for a Y splitter for the input on the grom and could not find it anywhere
Yep, you can't hook up both at the same time. I received this reply from GROM: "you will need to switch between the cables because they cannot be connected both at the same time." I use the Sirius radio more so will probably do like Jax but controlling the Ipod through the stock radio is so cool.

Yeah, I've got my IPOD hooked up with the grom and my XM through the aux-in... just cant play 'em both at the same time, sounds really messed up
Jax, so you can hook up both to the box and obviously not play them at the same time? I thought it was either Ipod interface OR aux in. If its both, then that will work for me.

No, as stated before you cannot hook both up to the grom at the same time
I said I have my Ipod hooked up with the grom and I use the aux-in mod (here) that many people have done for my XM
ok i installed mine and it worked for about three miles then the cd player went back to playing the cd and i could not get the ipod to come on again with the disk button. The ipod was still charging and playing, there just was no noise out of the stereo from it. All the other functions worked normally. So i decided that i had a loose wire. So i took the dash apart again and made sure everything was tight and working before i put it back together again which it was. Then, on the way to work today after about two miles it did it again. It stopped playing and turned back to the cd in the player and i could not get it to switch back to the aux again? has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions? why would it still be charging the ipod, but not allowing it to play on the steroe or even read that an aux is there. when i press the disk button nothing happens the cd just keeps playing.
also on the side that had two plugs, i left one of the two plugs unplugged. The other one was secure and inplace. Could i have pulled the wire to hard and disconnected one of the parts on the plug? I dont know but am getting tired of taking the dash on and of
help please! Thanks
ps my ipod was also charging after the car was turned off

Jerseyford2, I also had a similar problem the other day, only hours after installing and it was working fine, but it stopped working for a while and would charge but wouldn't play, wouldn't even switch to the second disk mode or whatever. But it is working fine, turning off the car and starting it back up fixed mine and its been fine since then. But is it supposed to pause the ipod when you turn the car off? Mine did once but it doesn't anymore. It automatically plays when its paused and you start the car, which is nice, but it should pause when I shut it off.
All in all, seems like a decent product, but for $87 there shouldn't be any little bugs like this. Also the little box is huge, for there probably not much inside of it...
And I get a little static it seems like, but it may just be my mp3's??? I notice it on some songs but not on others.
Oh and the ipod cord is plenty long too.
Well it seemed like the only option for a direct hook-up and it seems like a decent product so far, we'll see how it holds up...
