It's way better than an FM transmitter. If you feel comfortable reading some directions and being calm and careful while disassembling the stuff necessary to install the unit, then
you should be fine. I'm no mechanical genius, but I was able to install the unit quickly and
have it up and working. My only mistake was that I didn't tape enough area around the lower
part of the head unit before I pulled it out and got some scratches. However, I was told, just didn't follow directions exactly.
I'm getting ready to yank that one out and install the 3G compatible unit. My only issue
was finding enough space to stuff the box into. I decided on the right side of the head
unit.
The bonus for me was that I was then able to replace my head unit when it broke. I
actually ended up buying a replacement off ebay because I though the CD changer was
toast. However, when I pulled it out I saw that it had the most wicked jam in history.
So I used the replacement to study how the stacking mechanism worked and in about
4 hours had mine rebuilt and reinstalled!

Can a complete noob install this without breaking something else in the car?
Which one do I need? Have an iPod (touch 3G), but also thinking about getting XM one day. I don't need the unit to charge the iPod.
Thanks
