Tutorial: How to do TEG's Fog light mod

So you want your fog lights on without your headlights being on?

tools Philips head screwdriver, 10mm socket and extension, 18 gauge wire (8-12 inches), female wire terminal

difficulty 2/10

time 45 min

This is a 2 part DIY modification. Doing the re-wiring in the steering column will allow your fog lights to remain on when you switch to your high beams. Doing the re-wiring in the passenger kickpanel will allow you to turn your fogs on without your headlights.

Part 1: The steering column

1. There are 3 screws that hold your steering column in place.
1a. The screw under the steering column.

1b. Screw behind the steering wheel to the right

1c. Screw behind the steering wheel to the left.

2. You may have to put the car into the ACC position so you can turn your steering wheel and get access to the screws. After the screws are off, pull the steering column apart. (top goes up, bottom goes down)

3. Disconnect your negative terminal at this point

4. Find the #10 pin on the black plug on your steering column. (there are small numbers on the plug)
Cut it.

5. Tape the stalk side of the cut wire with electrical tape.

6. Strip a small portion of the plug side of the cut wire and send it to ground.

7. Tape off the wire stalk and all loose wires and replace the plug and steering column.

8. Do not re-connect the battery at this time. Go on to part two.

Part 2: The relay

9. Locate the passenger kickpanel. You will have to remove this. There is a plastic finger nut against the firewall holding it in. Remove it. Pull up the plastic on the doorsill and the panel should pop off.

10. There are 2 10mm brass screws holding the fuse box in. Unscrew them with your socket piece. You may need an extension to get to them.

11. Lift the fuse box upwards and out of it's location. There isn't a whole ton of room here, but do what you can.

12. On the back of the fuse box you will see a small black relay that sits higher than the others. This is your fog light relay. Pull this relay out.
